Psalm 16 reminds us where true joy is found.
Not in striving.
Not in circumstances.
But in the quiet nearness of God.
In the studio we return to this posture often — creating slowly, making space for stillness, and allowing what is formed in
our hands to reflect what is happening in the heart.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is simply time in His presence.

In Scripture, joy and oil are deeply connected.

The Hebrew word for joy — Simchah (שִׂמְחָה) and the word for oil — Shemen (שֶׁמֶן) share the same root letters: שמח (Sh-M-Ch).
Oil in the Bible represents anointing, consecration, light, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Joy flows from that same place — the nearness of God.
It reminds us that joy is not simply emotion.
It is something that flows from His presence and fills the heart.
This month we reflect on Simchah — joy that rises from within.
