Eyeball tattoos are one of the most extreme forms of body modification and have gained attention in recent years. While they may look striking, they come with serious risks, from infections to permanent vision loss. Your eyes are delicate — protect them, don’t tattoo them.

Tips to Protect Kids’ Eyes from the Sun

Children’s eyes are more sensitive to UV damage, so sun protection is essential year-round (even in winter). UV radiation can cause other serious eye conditions including: Cataracts, macular degeneration, keratitis, or corneal sunburn and conjunctival cancers. Here’s how to keep their vision safe:

Wear Sunglasses – Choose shades that block 99-100% of UVA & UVB rays.
Use SPF – Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 15+) to protect delicate skin around the eyes.
Beware of Clouds – UV rays pe*****te through haze and clouds, so eye protection is always necessary.
Watch Reflections – Water and sand reflect up to 80% of UV rays, doubling exposure.

Make sun safety a daily habit for lifelong healthy vision!

Your contact lenses have an expiry date too. How often you replace them depends on the type:

Daily lenses: Every day – one and done!
Bi-weekly lenses: Every 2 weeks.
Monthly lenses: Every 30 days (not 30 wears).

Wearing lenses past their schedule can cause dryness, irritation, or even infection — so stick to your replacement routine for happy, healthy eyes.

What You Need to Know About Cataract Surgery
Cataracts cause cloudy vision, making everyday tasks difficult — but the good news is, surgery is safe, quick, and highly effective.

What to Expect:
Outpatient procedure (you go home the same day)
Painless with local anaesthesia
Your cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial one
Vision improves within days!

Most people experience brighter, sharper vision and a major boost in quality of life. If blurry vision is affecting your daily routine, it might be time to ask about cataract surgery.

Did you know? Retinol can sometimes make the surface of your eyes feel dry.

Tip: If your eyes feel dry after using a cream with retinol, apply a lubricating eye drop along with your eye cream to keep them comfortable.

Keratoconus is an eye condition where the cornea (the clear front surface of your eye) thins and gradually bulges outward into a cone shape. This irregular shape makes it harder for the eye to focus, leading to blurry or distorted vision.

As we age, our eyes go through changes — some normal, some that need attention.
Here are a few conditions to look out for:

Cataracts – Cloudy vision that develops slowly over time
Glaucoma – Increased eye pressure that can damage the optic nerve
Dry Eye Syndrome – Often caused by screen time, age, or environment
Presbyopia – Difficulty focusing on near objects (hello, reading glasses!)
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) – Affects central vision

Regular eye exams help detect these early. Don’t wait until symptoms worsen — prevention is key to protecting your sight.
