We all experience symptoms from time to time.

What matters isn’t just what you feel but how long it lasts, how it changes, and what pattern it follows.

Palpitations, digestive discomfort, and back pain are often dismissed as manageable. But persistence and progression are often the signals clinicians rely on to decide when further assessment is needed.

This is where everyday health intersects with clinical reality.

Take a moment to understand when to act.

CES 2026 highlighted a wave of health technologies aimed at bringing care closer to everyday life.

From smarter diagnostics to more connected clinical systems, CES 2026 highlighted a wave of health technologies aimed at bringing care closer to everyday life.

We’re interested in your perspective: which of these shifts do you believe will meaningfully change how care is delivered?

Surgery prep isn’t just paperwork and fasting instructions. It’s physiology.

Many beliefs about preparing for surgery are shaped by habit, hearsay, or outdated advice. But evidence continues to show that what happens weeks before an operation can meaningfully influence outcomes after it.

Smoking, alcohol intake, nutrition, physical conditioning, and fasting protocols all affect how the body responds to surgical stress.

Swipe through as we separate fact from fiction.

One of the first things many people hear after an atrial fibrillation diagnosis: “Cut out coffee.”

The evidence no longer supports that advice.

A randomised clinical trial published in JAMA found that moderate coffee intake did not worsen atrial fibrillation recurrence. In fact, people who continued drinking coffee experienced fewer episodes than those who avoided it altogether.

This doesn’t mean caffeine is harmless in every context, but it does remind us that good care isn’t only about managing conditions.

It’s also about questioning long-held assumptions and grounding advice in evidence without taking away everyday comforts unnecessarily.

We’re curious. What’s your go-to cup of coffee to start the day? Drop in the comments.

Access to healthcare in South Africa can be measured in kilometres. For many rural and mining communities, those kilometres can mean days.

Over the past two years, we’ve worked with the SIOC Community Development Trust to bring mobile healthcare to the Northern Cape and Limpopo.

In our latest article, we share the lessons learned from taking healthcare on the road.

It starts with everyday choices. What we eat, how we move, and the symptoms we sometimes ignore.

Most of the time, these signals feel small.

But over time, patterns emerge. And that’s where we thrive.

Across cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery, digital health and many more, we focus on the clinical detail that helps turn everyday signals into informed care.

From diagnostics to workflow systems, we help healthcare providers make confident decisions.

From earbuds to smartphones, wireless technology has changed how we live. Now, it’s reshaping cardiac care.

Tiny, leadless heart implants can now maintain heart rhythm without the need for bulky wires or surgical pockets.

New real-world evidence shows this wireless approach is safer, with significantly fewer complications and a faster path to recovery than traditional pacemakers.

Arrhythmias stem from disrupted electrical pathways in the heart.

Newer systems take a more controlled approach to treatment by using balloon-in-basket technologies with mapping capabilities that utilise focused pulsed fields to address specific areas of concern.

This shift reduces unnecessary trauma, simplifies procedural steps, and reinforces a safety-centred philosophy in cardiac care.

YOUR PREMIUM MEDTECH PARTNER

In July 2018, The Amayeza Group partnered with South African alternative asset manager, Ethos, on a “buy-and-build” strategy to form a consolidated, scaled South African medtech group. Together, they have established a new entity called Vertice MedTech Group (“Vertice Medtech”) and moved The Amayeza Group into Vertice Medtech to act as the foundational platform for the consolidation strategy.

Patrick Godard, Vertice Healthcare CEO said: “We are excited to be partnering with Ethos on this expansion vision and believe this transaction is a strong endorsement of the levels of service excellence that we have delivered to our stakeholders over many years. Looking ahead, we shall make significant investment in capacitating Vertice Medtech – including bolstering leadership and new products – in order to deliver our growth vision. We shall also continue growing organically and via new distributions as illustrated by recently concluded agreements with Terumo IS for Cardiology, or Medela and Matriderm for SilvoCure. We are highly confident that this long-term investment will benefit our stakeholders, employees and ultimately the patients we all serve.”

Amayeza Abantu Biomedical (Pty) Ltd, established in 1998, started by distributing medical devices from St. Jude Medical for cardiac coronary diagnostics and cardiac rhythm management. Since then the company has been growing substantially, extending its product offering into more specialities and its footprint across the SubSaharan region. The company is renowned for its ability to deliver specialist, quality, state-of-the-art medical technology and skills transfer.

The first “buy-and-build” strategy’s success is the acquisition of Legacy Medical majority shares. Legacy Medical compliments the group products and services by being focused particularly on the Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) market and commands a differentiated competitive position by providing high-quality, advanced surgical products and instrumentation, personalised service, professional education as well as comprehensive technical support. Like Amayeza – they have developed exceptional relationships with key healthcare professionals and hospitals in the region.
