WHAT IS A CHAKRA?

We are not just physical bodies, for around us is a pulsating electromagnetic energy field that is described either as a rainbow-like aura or as a luminous body. This ‘subtle-energy’ field interacts with our physical body by flowing through concentrated spirals of energy. In yoga practice these spiraling energy centres are know as chakras, a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel of light’.

There are 7 main chakras that interact with the body’s ductless endocrine glands and lymphatic system by feeding in good energy and disposing of unwanted energy. 1

If the chakras are out of balance, ‘disease’ will be the result. This ‘disease’ could include one or more of the following. Please note that there are many more ‘diseases’ that could transpire.
- not feeling safe, feeling unworthy, struggling with keeping finances stable, having an addictive personality, not feeling inspired, being easily influenced by other people’s opinion of you, having difficulty making decisions, chronic stress, irritable bowel, syndrome, ulcers, tumours, insomnia and s*xual problems.

There are a number of healing modalities that can be used to balance the chakras. These include crystal healing, reiki, aromatherapy, kinesiology, reflexology, sound therapy, colour therapy and yoga.

Colour plays a very important role in activating and stimulating the chakras. Each chakra is also represented by a different colour (the colours of the rainbow), i.e. red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

Core Regeneration is a therapy based on the presumption that the body/mind system was created with all the necessary resources to heal itself. Through various factors like easy access to medication and “quick fixes”, stress, and the lack of commitment to responsibility for our own health, our core system has become lazy and we have become dependent on short-term solutions for health problems that our bodies should be able to resolve without too much effort.
Techniques used to practice this therapy, incorporates universal energy, prana (chi), or any form of energy the practitioner feels comfortable using. Core Regeneration is not a philosophy, it is purely a method of re-awakening the client’s own healing resources and has a strong reference to biology and physiology, as well as the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of any given client.
