When you hear the word inflammation, you might immediately think of pain, swelling, or something harmful. But inflammation is actually your body’s natural healing signal.

It’s your body’s way of saying: “Something’s wrong — let’s send in the fighters and restorers to help heal and protect.”

👉 While short-term inflammation is protective, when it continues for longer periods it can become chronic low-grade inflammation. At that point, the body goes into overdrive, overstimulating systems like the brain, gut, joints, muscles, and even major organs.

This can lead to:
· Digestive problems
· Cognitive decline (like dementia and Alzheimer’s)
· Joint pain and stiffness
· Increased risk of injury
· Slower recovery after training or illness

But here’s the good news: you can do something about it.
Through your diet and lifestyle, it’s possible to prevent or even reduce harmful inflammation.

Some practical ways include:
· Movement: Incorporate more low-impact exercise, stretching, and regular rest days.
· Nutrition: Add anti-inflammatory foods such as:
o Leafy greens
o Omega-3s (from fatty fish, chia, flax, walnuts — not omega 6 or 9)
o Colourful fruits like berries
o Garlic, ginger, and turmeric
o Plenty of water and fibre

✨ If you consistently struggle with inflammation or notice some of the symptoms above — or even if you just want to understand your body’s risk — you don’t have to guess. With a DNA Health or DNA Core test, you can get accurate insights into how your body responds to inflammation.

These tests provide a personalised roadmap to help you prevent or improve outcomes, giving you the confidence to take the right steps for your health.

Congratulations to Christina Savva Anastasellis, who holds the Real Estate Rental seat in BNI Refocus - Randburg, for winning the award for highest TYFCB in one month - an incredible R57,921!

Christina perfectly illustrated the power of BNI's referral network by sharing how one referral she received from a chapter member created a ripple effect of opportunities. That single referral generated business for the Rental agent, Conveyancing lawyer, Electrician, Builder/General Contractor, AND the referral member's mother-in-law. A true testament to how BNI creates win-win situations for everyone involved. One referral, multiple businesses thriving! 🏆

Our visitor queen Debbie Chapman Kienle again won the award for bringing the most visitors! 👏

🥘 𝟏. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 (𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦!)
Use pureed cauliflower, white beans, or coconut milk to create rich textures without heavy cream.
✨ Try: Roasted Cauliflower & Garlic Soup with a drizzle of olive oil.

Swap traditional pasta with lentil or chickpea noodles for added protein + fiber. Load up on veggies!
✨ Try: Whole grain pasta with sautéed spinach, cherry tomatoes, and a dollop of ricotta.

🥔 𝟑. “𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝” 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐞𝐬
Baked sweet potatoes are nutrient-packed and naturally sweet. Top with black beans, avocado, and a sprinkle of feta.
✨ Comfort food with a fiber + vitamin A boost!

🌾 𝟒. 𝐎𝐚𝐭𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐈𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐳𝐲
Warm oatmeal with cinnamon, apple slices, and nut butter = breakfast that feels like a hug.

Making small changes can make a huge difference to your heart health and blood pressure.
