The journey of a medicine woman
As a healer I feel it important to share my story and why I was inspired to follow my passion to help people in their mental health journeys.
My story starts off when I was very young, I am part of the very small percent of the worlds population that was born as a HSP (a highly sensitive person). My parents tried raising us well and even though they were doing everything out of love because of generational programming they were not able to be as supportive as they should have been. And at the same time I was forced to be part of a cult Christian religion that offered no support and held more than a normal amount of
control over my family and I.
When I started school, my problems had increased. My bullying started very young and even though I went to two different primary schools I still spent most breaks locked away in a bathroom cubicle. I made some friends in high school but still couldn’t find a place where I felt I belonged. My first su***de attempt was at 14, but it wasn’t until years later that I even realized that I was depressed, life just went on.
In 2010 in my final year of my degree they found out I had a very rare disease called Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. This had been causing my body to produce almost no cortisol and excessive amounts of testosterone since I was very young. I was placed on cortisol replacements, and this turned my world upside down at the age of 21. The extreme change in hormones caused my mental health to take a nose dive into chaos. I was now more depressed then ever. Even though it
took my four more years to go see a Dr. about my depression. So in 2014 I was started on Anti-Depressants, but it didn’t take long for me to be locked up in my first psychiatric hospital in 2015. After that I was locked up 4 more times had numerous su***de attempts and ICU admissions.
I was a walking zombie and had a strong believe that there was nothing out there. So in January of 2018 after attempting to take my life I had my first experience communicating with the universe (months later I found out this happened on the exact week of my Saturn return), this experience caused me to save my own life because I knew there was a bigger reason to my life.
Even though I ended up in a coma for a short while it had awoken something inside of me that couldnt be put out.
I spent many months on my long healing journey and doing everything possible from numerous plant medicine journeys, hundreds of hours of research, coaching, dancing and just making friends in the spiritual community to try find a cure to this depression (and I did it!) but in the process, I found my true self a a joyful medicine woman here to hold space for others on their own metal health journeys.
