Because lives depend on it.
At Rasmed Trauma Inc. @ Raslouw Private Hospital, we deliver comprehensive emergency medical care 24/7 — from the moment you arrive (or our ambulance team brings you in).

We follow the standard color-coded triage system used in top emergency units:
🔴 Red (Immediate)
Life-threatening — treated RIGHT NOW.

🟠 Orange (Very Urgent)
Serious and time-sensitive — next in line after reds are stabilized.
Examples: severe pain from fractures, deep lacerations, concerning chest/abdominal issues.
🟡 Yellow (Urgent / Delayed)
Needs prompt care but can wait a short time safely.
Examples: moderate injuries, infections requiring urgent treatment, stable but serious conditions.
🟢 Green (Non-Urgent / Minor)
Minor issues or follow-ups — handled last to free resources for critical cases.

🎄✨ Festive Water Safety Starts With You ✨🎄

Accidents happen in seconds. From our ER perspective, here’s how to keep pools, beaches, and rivers safe this holiday:

👶 Supervise Children – Never leave kids unattended near water.
👥 Never Swim Alone – Always have a buddy.
🛑 Secure Pools – Fence or net your pool to prevent accidental falls.
🌊 Respect Currents – Swim only in lifeguarded zones.
🤿 Check Depth Before Diving – Only dive where you can see the bottom.
🍺 Avoid Alcohol – Drinking impairs judgment and reaction time.
🚑 Know Emergency Numbers – In SA, dial 084124 from any cellphone.

💡 Stay hydrated, keep calm, and enjoy time with family and friends—while keeping water fun and safe.

🌿 Alcohol Awareness

Alcohol is part of many social settings, but it’s important to understand its impact.
👉 The World Health Organization notes that harmful drinking contributes to millions of deaths each year.
👉 It can affect health, relationships, and productivity — but responsible choices make a big difference.
👉 Simple self-checks, like the CAGE questions (Cut down, Annoyed, Guilty, Eye-opener), can help you reflect on your habits.

🚫 Some people should avoid alcohol completely — under 18s, pregnant women, drivers, or those with certain health conditions.
✅ By choosing moderation and being mindful, we can protect our wellbeing and build healthier communities.

🎄✨ Festive Season Safety Starts With You ✨🎄

The holidays should be about joy, not a trip to the ER. From our frontline perspective, here are the most common risks we see—and how you can avoid them:

• 🚗 Road Safety: Don’t drink and drive. Buckle up. Plan ahead for safe transport.
• 🔥 Fire Hazards: Candles, fireworks, and braais can turn dangerous fast—never leave them unattended.
• 🍹 Alcohol Awareness: Pace yourself, stay hydrated, and look out for friends.
• 🏊 Water Safety: Supervise children near pools and open water—accidents happen in seconds.
• 🎁 Stress & Fatigue: Rest matters. Exhaustion leads to accidents and poor decisions.

💡 Stay hydrated, keep calm, and enjoy the time with family and friends. Our ER teams want you celebrating at home, not in hospital. Protect yourself, protect others, and make this season memorable for the right reasons. HolidayWellness CommunityFirst

When the holiday stress hits, try 4-7-8 breathing. Breathing is an essential act that requires no thought. But thinking about it can alter your physical and mental health. It can relieve stress and anxiety or help you wind down and fall asleep. Here’s how to do it:

🌍🇿🇦 National Doctors’ Day – 16 November

Today we honour the unwavering dedication of South African doctors—the guardians of our nation’s health and wellbeing. 🩺✨

From saving lives in emergency rooms to offering comfort in clinics, doctors embody resilience, compassion, and service. Their work sustains the healthy functioning of our society, and their impact reaches far beyond medicine.

💙 Let’s take a moment to thank the doctors who stand at the frontline every day, protecting and healing our communities.

Coffee may not raise the risk of atrial fibrillation and may even reduce it, new research suggests.

Adults treated for AFib who drank at least one cup of coffee a day for 6 months were 39% less likely to have a recurrent episode of irregular heart rhythm, compared to those who did not have any coffee.

The results of the 6-month, 200-person trial were presented this week at Scientific Sessions, the premier global meeting for cardiovascular science and medicine. This trial is simultaneously published today as a full manuscript in the peer-reviewed scientific journal JAMA.

Some people may still find that caffeine, including coffee, triggers or worsens their AFib symptoms. If you’ve recently been treated for AFib, ask your doctor if continuing to drink coffee is safe for you.
