Breede River Hospice in Robertson cares for patients with life threatening illnesses throughout the Langeberg sub-district - including the towns and communities of Robertson, Nqkubela, Ashton, Bonnievale, Zolani, Montagu and McGregor and the entire surrounding area. We provide holistic, home based Palliative Care to patients who, most commonly, are diagnosed with Cancer, HIV/Aids, chronic illnesses and Tuberculosis. On average we care for 370 patients at any given time. Our care is provided at the home of the patient by a team of trained and passionate professionals and wonderful volunteers. This team consists of a doctor, social workers, spiritual counsellor, care-givers, bereavement volunteers and care-giver volunteers. We are one of 24 member hospices, of a total of 189 nationally, to have been awarded 5-star Certification from our national umbrella body, The Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA). Each member hospice is responsible for raising its own funds and giving care appropriate to their communities.
