Chronic Fatigue in Midlife? It May Not Be “Just Menopause.”
Many women experience persistent fatigue during perimenopause and menopause, and it’s often immediately blamed on hormonal changes.
But the reality is usually more complex than that.
While hormonal changes can influence energy, fatigue in midlife may also be linked to:
• metabolism and blood sugar balance
• thyroid function
• iron levels and nutrient status
• gut health and nutrient absorption
• chronic stress and sleep disruption
Often these patterns may have been developing quietly for years, and the hormonal changes of midlife simply make them more noticeable.
If fatigue during midlife can be influenced by metabolism, nutrient status, thyroid function, blood sugar balance, gut health, stress physiology, and hormonal changes, then addressing fatigue often requires looking at the whole picture rather than a single symptom.
I’ve written a new article exploring this in more detail.
