🌸 Topic of the Day: Seasonal Allergies

I love spring — longer days, fresh blooms, and the promise of new life. But sadly, spring doesn’t always love me back! If you’re like me, all that pollen in the air means one thing: seasonal allergies. And when it hits, it’s not just the sinuses that suffer — our eyes do too.

Common Symptoms of Allergic Conjunctivitis:
• Itchy eyes (the classic sign!)
• Redness
• Burning or stinging
• Swollen eyelids — often from rubbing (try not to!)

Treatment Options:
• 🌿 Long-term relief: Mast cell stabilising eye drops like Patanol or Relestat. These take 1–2 weeks to kick in, and are used twice daily.
• 🌼 Occasional flare-ups: Antihistamine eye drops like Spersallerg can help — but avoid using them chronically.
• 💊 Severe symptoms? Oral antihistamines may be needed.
• 💧 Artificial tears can rinse allergens from the eye surface.
• ❄️ Cold compresses help calm inflammation.
• ✋ Whatever you do — don’t rub your eyes! It only makes things worse.
