STIs/Condom week 3 - 7 February 2026

Protecting Our Community, One Choice at a Time 💡

Beyond the Change Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing substance and drug abuse, recognizes the importance of holistic health and wellbeing. As we observe STIs/Condom Week (3-7 February 2026), we emphasize the interconnectedness of physical and mental health.

Substance abuse can increase vulnerability to STIs and HIV through impaired judgment and risk-taking behaviors. Our work focuses on empowering individuals to make informed choices, promoting healthy relationships, and fostering a culture of consent and respect.

This STIs/Condom Week, we encourage our community to:

1. Prioritize regular health check-ups and screenings
2. Practice safe s*x and use condoms consistently
3. Openly discuss boundaries and consent with partners
4. Support those living with STIs or HIV, promoting inclusivity and understanding
5. Address underlying issues, such as substance abuse, that may impact health decisions

By addressing the root causes of risk behaviors and promoting comprehensive health education, we can reduce STI transmission and promote a healthier, more resilient community.

Let's work together to protect our community, one choice at a time.

Nurturing Life, Empowering Choices

This Pregnancy Awareness Week, Beyond the Change Foundation emphasizes the critical importance of maternal health and wellbeing. As an organization dedicated to addressing and combating substance and drug abuse, we recognize the profound impact of addiction on pregnancy and fetal development.

Substance abuse during pregnancy can lead to increased risks of miscarriage, premature birth, and long-term developmental challenges for the child. The effects of substance exposure can be far-reaching, influencing not only the mother's health but also the child's future.

At Beyond the Change Foundation, we believe that every pregnancy deserves care, support, and access to resources. We're committed to providing education, counseling, and treatment options for expectant mothers struggling with addiction. By addressing substance abuse, we can empower women to make informed choices, promote healthy pregnancies, and nurture the next generation.

This Pregnancy Awareness Week, let's unite to:

1. Raise awareness about the risks of substance abuse during pregnancy
2. Support expectant mothers in making healthy lifestyle choices
3. Advocate for accessible treatment and resources for addiction
4. Foster a culture of compassion and understanding for those affected

Together, we can create a brighter future for mothers, babies, and families.

Uniting Against Cancer: A Holistic Approach to Health

On World Cancer Day 2026, Beyond the Change Foundation acknowledges the far-reaching impact of cancer, a disease that affects millions worldwide. As an organization dedicated to addressing and combating substance and drug abuse, we recognize the critical link between substance use and cancer risk.

Substance abuse, including to***co, alcohol, and illicit drugs, is a significant risk factor for various types of cancer. The chemicals in these substances can damage DNA, disrupt cellular processes, and weaken the immune system, increasing cancer susceptibility. For instance, to***co use is linked to lung, mouth, and throat cancers, while excessive alcohol consumption is associated with liver, breast, and colon cancers.

At Beyond the Change Foundation, we believe that addressing substance and drug abuse is crucial to cancer prevention. By empowering individuals to make informed choices and providing support for those struggling with addiction, we can reduce cancer risk and promote overall wellbeing.

This World Cancer Day, we urge communities to come together and prioritize health. Let's raise awareness about the connection between substance abuse and cancer, support those affected, and advocate for policies and programs that promote healthy lifestyles and addiction treatment.

Together, we can create a healthier, cancer-free future.

EMPOWERING THE FUTURE: SUBSTANCE ABUSE AWARENESS TAKES CENTER STAGE!

Beyond the Change Foundation, in collaboration with the South African Police Service, Department of Social Development, and Community Police Forum, conducted a impactful substance and drug abuse awareness initiative at Sunrise View Secondary School. This critical program aimed to address the escalating concern of substance and drug abuse among school learners, a pressing issue affecting schools and communities nationwide.

The initiative focused on delivering in-school substance and drug abuse prevention programs, equipping school teachers with updated knowledge on emerging substances and strategies to identify and support learners struggling with addiction. By empowering educators and engaging with learners, we strive to foster a culture of informed decision-making and resilience.

At Beyond the Change Foundation, our mission is to bridge the gap between awareness and action, despair and hope. We believe every individual has the potential to overcome adversity, and communities can thrive when equipped with the right tools and knowledge. Our Prevention program tackles substance abuse at its root, working directly with schools, families, and communities to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
