We’re hiring: Deputy Nursing Manager

Riverside Retirement Estate is looking for a dynamic, compassionate leader to join our team and uphold the highest standards of geriatric care.

Requirements:

South African citizen

SANC-registered nurse

Minimum 10 years’ practical nursing experience, with at least 5 years in geriatric care

Proven experience in Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Frail Care

Leadership experience as Head of Nursing

Empathy and passion for caring for the elderly

Ability to work collaboratively with medical professionals including GPs, specialists, physiotherapists, biokineticists, podiatrists, and dieticians

Duties and Responsibilities:

Report directly to the Nursing Services Manager

Manage quality nursing care in line with the Older Persons Act 13 of 2006

Ensure compliance with Department of Social Development requirements

Implement and manage nursing policies and procedures

Oversee nursing staff complement, leave, absenteeism, and performance

Conduct assessments and develop integrated care plans

Maintain high nursing standards across mid-, frail-, Alzheimer’s-, and dementia care

Manage wound care, medication administration, and oxygen/nebulisation

Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care plans

Ensure accurate and up-to-date medical records

Coordinate with other departments and service providers

Competencies:

Fluent in Afrikaans and English

Strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills

Professional, proactive, and innovative leadership

Committed to continuous learning and staff development

Computer literate (MS Word and Excel)

Team-oriented and collaborative
