Imagine doing your vinyasa in a magnificent “secret garden”, surrounded by the natural elements, blissfully tuning out everything but the live audio cues and calming music piping into your headset.
That's the sensory experience awaiting you at the latest pop-up yoga classes on certain Sunday morning’s at the Melrose Arch Precinct.
Simply put, we have figured out how to bottle Zen and share it through a pair of radio frequency wireless headphones that makes each yoga session an incredible sensory experience.
The instructor’s voice is streamed to each yogi via short-range radio frequency rather than amplified through speakers.
That way, there’s no straining to see or hear the teacher, no matter how large the class. Pro tip: Slip off your headphones for just a second mid-session to see everyone moving noiselessly in unison when you can’t even hear the teacher’s soft commands.
Each 60-minute yoga session yoga is followed by 15 minutes of meditation. “Meditation is very important. It has a very high objective – to take us away from this world of suffering into the world of happiness, joy and bliss.
It is a method, a discipline, that we have to follow very discreetly and if we follow it properly, we will find that meditation helps us to discover ourselves, what we really are,” says Swami Nirliptananda.
The carefully selected music that is played through the headsets helps you get into meditation mode. From there, you can work on self-discovery or any other objective – or, simply ‘be’ and enjoy the meditative experience with no agenda.
You are advised you to bring along a warm blanket for the session, since warmth and comfort have huge effects on the benefits acquired.
