Your baby’s skull is meant to be mouldable. This natural flexibility allows for safe birth, rapid brain growth, and healthy development during the first months of life.

Because the skull is soft, some babies develop flat spots — even when parents follow all the right advice, including safe back sleeping. This is common and not a reflection of poor care.

Fitting and training day is always exciting as this is where the real transformation begins. Training day is where our patients learn to activate gestures, practice precision grips, and build confidence in everyday tasks.

From holding a water bottle to typing, preparing food, or managing household activities — each session helps the prosthesis become a natural and empowering part of their daily life.

Last week we introduced the i-Limb Quantum. Today, we show you the behind the scenes of the assessment phase for a device like the i-Limb Quantum on our patient.

During this assessment phase, we carefully evaluate muscle signals, movement patterns, comfort, and functional goals. Using a test socket, we position sensors that read muscle activity, allowing us to see how the prosthetic hand will respond to natural movement before the final arm is made.

This step is critical in ensuring the i-Limb Quantum is not only precise, but intuitive — translating intention into real-world control.
