What can a patient expect from a consultation

During the first visit a thorough history of the patients’ complaint is taken followed by a physical examination to establish an accurate diagnosis determining the most appropriate treatment protocol. Patients will be sent for further investigations when necessary. We always try to accommodate the needs of the patient and make the consultation as convenient for them as possible; as such we work directly with medical aids so that the patients don’t have to submit claims to medical aids themselves. I believe that evidence/research based patient care is of great importance and as such I strive to keep up to date with latest developments in patient care. I incorporate many different treatment methods some of which may include spinal- or extremity manipulation, dry needling for muscles, functional – or structural strapping, soft tissue treatment and rehabilitation protocols. As a chiropractor my door is open to any- and all patients who require it, from young to old patients, from foot pain to neck pain and every musculoskeletal pain in-between. I also have a passion to work with sports athletes, over the last two years I enjoyed working with professional rugby clubs and I formed part of health care providers at numerous marathon events, hockey tournaments, national rugby events (TENS-, sevens- and touch-rugby), cycle tours, crossfit competitions and baseball tournaments. Bad sitting habits, such as slouching or crossing your legs, can have a detrimental impact on the health of your spine. 🪑 🧍‍♂️Simple changes to your workspace and your sitting posture can go a long way to improving the health of your spine.

📋10 Tips for a Proper Sitting Posture:

1. Keep your pelvis neutral with your buttocks against the back of your chair.
2. Keep your ears, shoulders, and hips in a straight line with the spine.
3. Maintain the normal low back curve – sit all the way back into the chair (Use a back support if necessary).
4. Keep your hips and knees at 90 degrees.
5. Evenly distribute your weight over both hips (avoid leaning to one side).
6. Keep both feet flat on the ground (use foot stool if necessary).
7. Keep your forearms parallel with the floor, resting on your desk.
8. Place your computer monitor 60 - 80 cm from your face with the top 1/3 of monitor at eye level.
9. Regularly check that your head is not protruding forward.
10. Take periodic breaks & stretch out.

🧍‍♂️➡️ Sitting or standing with the head directed down and forwards for prolonged periods can increase the mechanical stresses on the neck muscles, ligaments and joints by approximately three times. ⚠️

🙌 Remember to make a habit of raising your arms and holding the phone closer to eye level 👀 to reduce the stress on your neck.

⏳ It might sound like a small change, however if you take into account the number of hours you spend on your phone it all adds up. ✅
