Happy Workers’ Day to the people who do some of the most important work in our communities, our carers.

You show up early, stay calm under pressure and give dignity in moments that aren’t always easy.

At ACT, we believe care work is skilled, meaningful work and it deserves proper training, recognition and respect.

Today we celebrate you.

Freedom includes the right to be treated with dignity at every stage of life, including those living with dementia.

In caring environments, freedom can look like:
▪ Being spoken to with respect
▪ Being kept safe and supported
▪ Having personal needs met with dignity
▪ Being cared for with compassion

We’re committed to training that strengthens quality care and supports a more compassionate caring community.

Happy Freedom Day!

Quality dementia care is built on small moments done well.

Training helps carers build the skills and confidence to support residents in ways that protect dignity and improve quality of life, for residents and carers.

When carers feel supported and capable, the care becomes calmer and everyone benefits.

Our 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗱 programme equips staff with the knowledge and confidence to respond calmly and correctly in urgent situations, both at work and at home.

They are trained to provide efficient, immediate care within a regulated scope of practice, while waiting for professional medical assistance.

This training is especially valuable in care facilities and home-based care settings where staff may be the first person on the scene.

What this programme supports staff to do:
✅ Recognise common emergencies early
✅ Respond quickly and safely
✅ Provide basic first aid and immediate support
✅ Protect the well-being and dignity of the person in their care
✅ Act with confidence, not panic

One of the most important parts of dementia care is remembering this: 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.

Good care is not only about completing tasks. It is also about:
✅ How we speak to residents
✅ How we explain what we are doing
✅ How we preserve comfort and dignity
✅ How we create a safe and calm environment

We believe training should equip carers with both practical skills and empathy, because both matter in quality care.
