About self-consciousness...
I know some people who are afraid to try a conscious dance class because they think that they cannot dance, and that they will look like a fool.
Some of these people were shamed at some point in their lives regarding the way they move their bodies, and it instilled this belief in them.
It takes a lot of courage to show up and to be present. You are stepping out, taking a risk. However, I believe that conscious dance can heal those wounds. Help you to enjoy being in your body again and to enjoy your unique movement.
The conscious dance space is a safe container. The dance is not about what things look like, it's about what happens inside your body when you move. When you are a moving you are connected to feeling and the movement becomes an expression of feeling.
Looking back on this video that I made while I was with my movement practice, I feel very self-conscious.
But I continue with my practice regardless of what it looks like.
In the moment I was present with my body and I was moving with feeling. I could express myself fully. I've embraced feeling self-conscious.
The benefits outweigh the risks.
I'm extending an invitation to you to show up for yourself. Be brave. To come and practice letting go of self limiting beliefs. What others judge as right or wrong is their business. As far as I'm concerned, we are here on earth to learn to be our most authentic selves. If that means looking like a fool, so be it. The dance offers us liberation!
And practice makes for progress.
Looking forward to moving with you ♡
