In case you missed it...here's a lovely article about Jade and her 100km challenge. A big thank you to the District Mail and Jade for spreading awareness about what we do at the Centre.

Helderberg local Jade Morris was already several kilometres into a grueling 100km journey as soon as the sun rose early on Monday morning (2 March) as the 27-year-old began her mission to raise vital funds and awareness for the Bizweni Centre for Children with Disabilities.

On Monday, our teenagers went on an outing to the Cape Garden Centre to buy plants for our Teaching Garden. We wouldn’t have been able to purchase the seedlings and compost without the recent generous donation from Adila Klomp, who popped in for a tour of the Centre.

We added an extra element of fun by giving the children a checklist and turning the outing into a mini treasure hunt for the items. Just riding in a trolley was a highlight for some!

The staff at the Cape Garden Centre are always so helpful, so Class 4 gifted them with soaps they made as part of their 'Giving Back to the Community' programme.

We look forward to sharing more updates as our garden grows. Thank you, Adila, for making this outing possible and for helping bring our garden to life. 🌱🌼

The inspirational Jade celebrated her birthday with us today. Looking as fresh as a daisy after crushing her 100km challenge yesterday, she sang and danced with the children. We can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for the Centre.

Not only did she complete her challenge, but she also reached 103% of her fundraising target! Thank you, Jade — you are a superstar.

❤️

.....and she did it! It was a long, hot, then windy day, but Jade SMASHED her 100km running challenge! We are extremely proud of her and are blown away by her determination and strength. What an inspirational (and stylish) lady!
A huge thank you to Jade, all of her support runners and crew, and North Coffee for hosting us. Thank you to everyone who donated in support of Jade and of our children. We appreciate you all!
What a phenomenal day.

Jade is smashing it....so far, 82.6km in the sun. Thanks to her big support team. Such a special moment when our teenagers swung by to cheer her on. What an amazing woman!

It's happening! Jade has kicked off her challenge and has run 30km of her 100km already!
Go Jade Go! Looking good!

Class 4 has been busy spreading joy! ✨
Our 'Giving Back to the Community' programme took us to Silvejarre Retirement Home, where Mienie led a music session that had everyone singing along. 🎶 The residents loved it, and the smiles got even bigger when our teens handed out the colourful soaps they had made. 🧼💛
We’re so proud of these teenagers—giving back feels good!

What an incredible evening we had at the Indigo Spur!

A huge thank you to the friendly Spur staff who made the night run so smoothly, and to all the diners who joined us – your kindness made a difference.

Together, we helped spread awareness and raised much-needed funds for the 70 children at the Centre.

Your support means the world to us, and every contribution helps us continue our mission of providing education, therapy, care and much more.

Here’s to many more nights of community, compassion, and impact!

Hey wonderful supporters, we wanted to let you know that the Woolworths MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet programme is changing.

What’s Changing?
• Woolworths is combining WRewards and MySchool into a new platform called MyDifference.
• You can still support the Centre, but once the new system is in place, you may need to reselect or reactivate us as your beneficiary.
• MyDifference is app-based, so all beneficiary selections, rewards, and donations will now be managed through the Woolworths app.
• Physical loyalty cards are being phased out by the end of March, although you can still request a physical card if preferred.

What You Need to Do
• Open the Woolworths app, activate your MyDifference card
Don’t forget to select Bizweni Centre for Children with Disabilities as your beneficiary.
• If you haven’t downloaded the app, it’s available on both the App Store and Google Play.
• Your existing MySchool card will still work for now, but we recommend switching soon to ensure your support continues without interruption.

Every swipe still counts! Thank you for choosing to support our children.

We are grateful for our longstanding relationship with our friends at . They generously share their knowledge and expertise with us, and we value their support. Most of our wheelchairs and standing frames are made by Shonaquip.
Posture support and mobility devices play a vital role in enabling children to participate in more activities and feel included.
Thank you, Shonaquip!

Our Story

Bizweni Centre for Children with Disabilities is registered as Special Needs Day-Care Centre located in Somerset West. We currently have 62 wonderful children ranging from the ages of 2 years to 18 years old. The children come in each day to receive education, love, care and the necessary therapeutic interventions. The majority of our children come from disadvantaged communities where access to education and therapeutic interventions is extremely limited for children with disabilities.

Bizweni Centre was established over 20 years ago to provide a safe, loving environment for children with disabilities to learn and grow according to their own potential. Now years later Bizweni Centre has grown and operates as a “school”. The children are divided into 5 classrooms, the lower 3 classes are for the younger children with class 4 and 5 making up the Life Skills section for the children aged 12-18 years old.

We have an incredible team of staff including occupational therapists, a speech therapist, a remedial therapist, teachers and carers. From the time children arrive from the bus until they go the home they are exposed to an environment rich in learning, language and care. One of their favourite lessons is music which is part of our music stimulation program.
