Did you know that skin-to-skin contact from fathers can also have a positive impact on premature babies?

It helps regulate their breathing, heart rate, and temperature, and promotes bonding between father and baby. The whole family can play a part in providing support when caring for preterm babies.

This means when mommy is not around, fathers, partners and other family members can provide Kangaroo Care. Let's encourage all fathers and partners to practice skin-to-skin contact with their premature babies.

Signs of Labor:

Here are the most common signs that labor may be starting:
1. Regular Contractions – Tightening and pain that come at regular intervals and get stronger over time.
2. Lower Back Pain – Persistent or increasing pain in your lower back.
3. Bloody Show – A pink or bloody mucus discharge (from the mucus plug coming out).
4. Water Breaking – A gush or slow trickle of fluid from your va**na (amniotic sac rupture).
5. Pelvic Pressure – A feeling that the baby has dropped lower into your pelvis.
6. Cramps – Period-like cramps that don’t go away.
7. Nesting Instinct – A sudden burst of energy or strong desire to prepare your home.
8. Diarrhea or Nausea – Hormonal shifts can trigger stomach upset.
9. Cervix Changes – Your doctor or midwife may note dilation and effacement during a checkup.

If your water breaks, contractions are strong and regular, or you experience heavy bleeding, contact your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
