As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the year. It has been an incredible journey, and we are truly honoured to have you as a loyal customer.

In the spirit of festivity and gratitude, we will be temporarily closing our doors from the 23rd of December 2025 at 5pm as we prepare to bring you even more joy and delight in the coming year. We will be open from the 5th of January 2026 to continue to give you quality products and services.

Makatu Tshivhula, founder of The Light Candles

Bio:
Makatu Tshivhula is a 27-year-old entrepreneur from Soweto, who founded The Light Candles, a successful candle-making business. He's a psychology graduate from Nelson Mandela University, but instead of pursuing a traditional career path, he chose to turn his passion for candle-making into a business.

Makatu's journey began when he worked at a candle factory for six months, learning the craft. He then took a bold step and started his own business using manual molds and eventually secured funding to scale up production. His candles are popular among the spiritual and religious community, and he's known for using high-quality wax that’s eco friendly.

Makatu's mission goes beyond just running a business; he's passionate about tackling unemployment in South Africa. He aims to equip young people with skills to start their own businesses and plans to expand his operations to every province, creating job opportunities along the way.
