One wonders why are we so worried about u kidneys?
Kidneys plays a major role in our bodies
Lets explore kidney functions

1.Remove toxins and excess water through urine,by so maintaining acid base balance and preventing fluid overload that can severely affect the heart and lungs
2.maintain a stable blood pressure through a process named renin-angiotensin system ---a health blood pressure means a healthy heart and organs

3.Helps body to manufacture red blood cells responsible for stable haemoglobin level...meaning u wont have problem with allow blood in u body .This is made possible by a hormone named erythropoetin which is released by kidneys to make bone marrow produce redcells.

4.Helps in maintaining healthy bones by regulating calcium, phosphate and PTH..here the kidneys role is to activate absorbed vitamin D from sun and food into active form that maintains calcium and phosphorus levels.low calcium levels means body has to procure calcium from ur bones rendering them fragile to fractures.

What are treatment for chronic renal failure...

Dialysis and transplant

Types of dialysis
*Haemodialysis(HD) that involves using dialysis machine usually 3 times a week on alternate days for the rest of u life or until u get a kidney donor for transplant

*Peritoneal dialysis(PD) which involves self dialysis using a fluid bag that works on peritoneal membrane to remove waste and water
This type is done evey 4 hrs 4 times a day, everyday for the rest of ur life or until u get kidney donor or transplant.
With PD we have CAPD(continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis)explained above ,use manual 4times a day and APD(Automated peritoneal dialysis) that uses a machine but throughout the night at home.

With PD u do it at home on u own, after being trained

Transplant
N.B:- No sales of organs is allowed in our country
Transplant involves organ donation that might be life related or not life related or a cadaver(dead patient)
Here we ensure all tests are run to exclude illnesses and to assess compatability .
Once u are transplanted, life goes back to normal but precautions have to take place such as living healthy lifestyle ,exercises, regular checkups and adherence to antirejection medication.
