Pregnancy classes

An investment that will last long after your baby is born.

Appropriate exercise during pregnancy has many benefits, including reduced risk for instrumental delivery during vaginal birth, and a reduction in odds of having a large baby. (Davenport, 2019)

Lovely to share in the motherhood journey of others as early as pregnancy, preparing for birth and being able to assist with home visits after birth for laser/ultrasound for breastfeeding challenges, whereafter new moms can join our Mom& Baby classes for developmental play and mom rehab exercise, or the Moms-only classes for postnatal rehab.

Pregnancy classes

An investment that will last long after your baby is born.

Exercising during pregnancy has many benefits, which includes reduced risk for instrumental delivery during vaginal birth, and reduced odds of a large baby. (Davenport and colleagues 2019)

It would be lovely to meet more ladies in our community during pregnancy already with whom we can walk the road of motherhood.

We are also available to help you after birth with laser/ultrasound for breastfeeding problems, home visits, postnatal Mom&Baby classes and postnatal rehab classes for moms.

Infographic Achilles Paratendinitis - When labels are important in directing treatment - part 2 of 3

Achilles pain may be related to mid-portion tendinopathy, or may have a different diagnosis such as paratendinitis, requiring different treatment. How can you differentially diagnose Achilles tendinopathy from paratendinitis? Webinar - Anterior Knee Pain & the impact of load with Dr Lee Herrington

Anterior knee pain (AKP) often develops in runners, cyclists and athletes during periods of increased training load, and leading up to a race or event. Our more sedentary patients also develop AKP with small increases in load such as starting a walking program or stair climbing. Why does anterior knee pain develop during these times? Which factors are the most important to address at each stage of your rehabilitation of AKP patients - biomechanical, proximal or distal control, load, pain inhibition or strength?

In this presentation with Dr Lee Herrington (PhD MSc MCSP), you will explore how load may lead to pathological changes within the patellofemoral joint and other related structures, creating AKP. You will examine the evidence for altered loading in patients with AKP, and be able to identify specific structures vulnerable to load. Discover how to structure and tailor your treatment, so you can help your AKP patients recover, improve their load tolerance and return to the sports or activities they love: https://www.clinicaledge.co/online-courses/anterior-knee-pain-and-the-impact-of-load-with-dr-lee-herrington?utm_source=MeetEdgar&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=FBwebinarEdgar&utm_term=FBAKPwebinarEdgar&utm_content=FBAKPwebinarEdgar

Injured athletes like to recover and return to play as quickly as possible, and we need to balance return to play against impaired strength, performance and risk of reinjury. Initial injury rehabilitation often commences with isometric exercises, progressing into concentric/eccentric style exercises when isometric tests are pain-free. Finally high load eccentric exercises such as the Nordic hamstring are introduced for their positive effects of increased strength, fascicle length and reduced injury risk.
High level and eccentric exercises are often avoided in the early stages of rehab, for fear of aggravating the injury. What if we could commence higher-level and eccentric exercises safely at an earlier stage? Would this impair or accelerate your patients' recovery?
