As the year draws to a close, we at Stellenbosch Hospice would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our patients, families, staff, volunteers, donors, and community. Your support, kindness, and compassion make our work possible and remind us daily of the power of humanity and care. During this festive season, we wish you moments of peace, comfort, and reflection. May the coming year bring strength, hope, and continued connection.

I also want to hold space for those who are facing this season with heaviness those who have lost someone, are struggling, or find the holidays especially hard this year. Please know you are not forgotten. Be gentle with yourselves, take things one moment at a time, and know that you are not alone.

Sending love, light, and hope to everyone this holiday season 🤍✨

Palliative care is about improving quality of life, not just managing illness.

The goal is to relieve pain, ease symptoms, and reduce the emotional and spiritual stress of living with a serious condition - for both patients and their loved ones.

Our care team includes doctors, nurses, social workers, and a chaplain, working together to provide comprehensive, compassionate support tailored to each individual’s needs.

Hospice is more than a place; it’s a way of caring. At Stellenbosch Hospice, our care extends far beyond our Butterfly Ward. In fact, our Home Nursing Program supports around 85 patients every month, making it our largest service.

💡 Did you know?
Most hospice care happens at home, where patients feel safest and most comfortable.
Less than half of hospice patients have a cancer diagnosis - we care for people with a wide range of life-limiting illnesses.
Hospice care is about the whole person - body, mind, and soul, and includes their family and support system.

Whether in a ward, a living room, or a farm cottage, we bring dignity, compassion, and comfort right to our patients’ doorsteps.

Because home is where the heart and healing truly are.

Behind the scenes at Stellenbosch Hospice, one person is making sure every cent works as hard as we do. Meet Marnus Dippenaar, our dedicated Financial Manager.

With sharp insight, integrity, and a heart for our mission, Marnus helps us stretch every donation further, ensuring we make the greatest possible impact with the resources we have.

Thanks to his careful stewardship, we’re able to continue providing compassionate, dignified care to those who need it most.

Because here, every penny counts, and Marnus makes sure we use it twice.

At Stellenbosch Hospice, caring for our patients is about more than just meeting medical needs; it’s about honouring their humanity.

We believe every person deserves to feel seen, valued, and cherished. That’s why we go the extra mile to create moments of comfort, connection, and dignity for those in our care. Because for us, it’s not just about adding days to life, it’s about adding life to every day.
