Just like during pregnancy and postpartum, when regular check-ins with your midwife or gynecologist are vital to monitor you, your babyβs growth, address concerns, and make necessary adjustments, follow-ups in lactation care are just as important.
Breastfeeding is a dynamic process, and very rarely is it a one-time fix. Ongoing support and follow-up consultations are often needed to make sure both you and your baby continue to thrive.
A follow-up isnβt just a repeat of the first appointment. Itβs a chance to see how things are going, to ask new questions, and to adjust your plan as your baby grows and changes. What worked last week might not work this week - feeding patterns, latch, and behavior evolve quickly, and your feeding plan should evolve too.
If you were given specific exercises or strategies, a follow-up allows us to assess whether theyβre working as intended or if they need to be adapted. If a particular latching technique isnβt quite right, we can explore alternative approaches and, where needed, arrange referrals for additional support.
Regular follow-ups ensure that progress is monitored, challenges are addressed early, and you have continuous guidance throughout your feeding journey. Families who stay connected tend to reach their goals more easily and with greater confidence.
Breastfeeding is a process that grows and changes - follow-up care helps you stay supported every step of the way.
Stay in touch. Stay informed. Stay empowered.
