“Prevention through Education!”

Health Promotion South Africa Trust® is a non-profit organization providing information and training in health and hygiene to prevent illness in the townships of Southern Africa. Thousands of people, especially children, are dying every year as a result of limited knowledge about hygiene and illness prevention. Children die, for example, from diarrhoea, infections and other illnesses that can be prevented by providing simple basic information and training to aid workers and the local population. Our Health Promoters® are providing this basic information and training in the form of workshops with excellent, promising results. The Health Promotion South Africa Trust® is based in South Africa with supporting organizations in the Netherlands and the United States of America.

🚗💨 Our trainings keep growing! More and more students are traveling long distances to join us – sometimes over 190 km!

This time, Winnie was able to stay overnight with our Senior Health Promoter Lulama Solani, so she could fully participate in the training. ❤️

Big plans are coming in 2026 to make our training accessible to everyone across South Africa! 💪

This past Friday, we celebrated in the Strand townships. What a special day to see all the students succeed.
Congratulations to everyone on reaching this milestone! 🌟

🌍 Support Regina Eggink-Stolk with a like!

Meet Regina Eggink-Stolk — working from the Netherlands to drive Health Promoters forward together with George Arrey. Over the past four weeks, she’s been in South Africa helping shape exciting new plans. 🇿🇦✨Friday she will go back home again.

Regina worked closely with co-founder Harold Robles for seven years, took over his role at Harold his request , and promised to continue his work with the same dedication. For five years, she’s been giving her all to this mission. Together with George, she maps out the organization’s course and presents proposals to the board. 💪

She focuses on fundraising, management & communication, all in service of Health Promoters’ mission: Life Changing Health Education! 💙

💚 𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐖𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐲𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐲 💚

This month, we already had a small online farewell for our beloved chairperson Malmsey. Unfortunately, it had to take place virtually, but we’ve agreed to have a proper farewell in March 2026, when Regina is back in South Africa.

Malmsey has been our Chairperson in South Africa for ten years — a period filled with beautiful, emotional, and sometimes challenging moments.
After the passing of our founder Harold Robles, she supported the management team to ensure that Harold’s important work could continue.

Now it’s time to say goodbye. Farewells are never easy, but we look back with deep gratitude on a meaningful and inspiring collaboration. Fortunately, we will stay in touch. 💚Thank you for everything Malmsey

The chairperson’s gavel will be passed on to Honsjie Conana, who has been a valued member of our South African board for many years. We are convinced that Honsjie will take on the role of chairperson with great enthusiasm.
In addition, Dr. Bridget from the University of the Western Cape will be joining us in the coming period, and we hope she will strengthen our team.

📸 Attached are some photos from the past period.

Today we wrapped up our campaign with a special gathering. 🙌 25 women and a few men joined us – because yes, men can get breast cancer too. 💪 The chance is smaller, but it can happen.

👩‍⚕️ Dr. Sahar Abdul Rasool and 👨‍🏫 Dr. and Proffessor Eveline Diagge from United States, gave an inspiring presentation about breast cancer. The professor happened to be in South Africa 🇿🇦 for other meetings and was eager to contribute to our campaign. Afterwards, both doctors offered screenings to the women who wanted them. 🩺

This event was wonderfully organised with the help of our Senior Health Promoter Lulama, who also provided the translation into Xhosa. 🌟

It was the first time we organised this campaign, and next year we plan to make it even bigger. 🌍💗

✨ Today we are represented at the Christmas concert of Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg III with Philharmonic orchestra.
Every year, during this heartwarming event, food is collected under the Christmas tree so that we can distribute it in December to families in the townships who need it most. 💛

What a beautiful tradition — together we make a difference! 🙏

On Monday, our team visited Sencit Old Age Home where some of our students are completing their practical assignments. It was wonderful to see them apply their knowledge and enthusiasm in practice, directly contributing to the residents. 👏

We are proud of our students and look forward to seeing their continued growth through this valuable hands-on experience! 🌟

Health Promoters was invited today by the Legacy Center, where Louise Fourie has built a wonderful organization doing amazing work in the community. 💚

The day started beautifully with a musical opening by the staff, setting a warm and joyful tone for the visit. 🎶✨

Health Promoters rents the upper floor of the Legacy Center, and Regina Eggink was present on behalf of HP. During the visit, great connections were made — including with the doctor and psychiatrist from Stellenbosch, with whom Regina has already shared a few cups of coffee. ☕🤝

There were inspiring conversations about mental health and the future of the Health Promoters. Louise will hand over her beautiful project to the new generation, but will remain involved as a board member. 🌟

We’re happy that Louise will also stay involved with the Legacy Center and continue to be part of its inspiring work. 💚

Together, we continue building a healthy and hopeful future! 💪💚

Today was all about breast cancer awareness in Kayamandi.
Dr. Sahar Abdul-Rasool and Dr. Jane Venter gave an insightful presentation on cancer and lymphedema. Afterwards, Dr. Lumuli Mbonile kindly conducted screenings in a separate room.

👉 About 60% of the women were advised to follow up at the hospital for an extra check. This does not necessarily mean cancer — it could also be an inflammation or temporary irritation that will resolve on its own.

Dr. Sahar emphasized that if a biopsy is needed, there is no need to be afraid: the procedure is done under local anesthesia and is virtually painless.

A day full of awareness, knowledge sharing, and caring for each other. 💕
