Today we pause to honour the lives impacted by HIV, celebrate the progress we’ve made, and recommit ourselves to ending stigma and improving access to care.

HIV is a manageable, treatable condition and with the right support, people living with HIV can live long, healthy, full lives.

This year’s message is simple:

💡 Know your status.
💡 Start treatment early.
💡 Stay undetectable = stay untransmittable (U=U).

Whether you need testing, treatment, PrEP, PEP, or guidance, our practice is here to support you confidentially and without judgement.

Let’s continue fighting stigma, uplifting one another, and working toward an HIV-free generation in South Africa

Today we recognise World Diabetes Day, a reminder that diabetes affects millions of South Africans. Early detection and healthy choices can change the outcome.

🇿🇦 Why it matters in South Africa

- Over 4.5 million South African adults are living with diabetes.
- Many people are undiagnosed, only finding out when complications appear.
- With the rising rates of obesity, stress, and inactivity, prevention and early screening are more important than ever.

🩺 Know the warning signs

- Constant thirst
- Frequent urination
- Unexpected weight changes
- Fatigue
- Blurred vision
- Slow-healing wounds

If you notice these symptoms, don’t ignore them - get screened.

🍎 Small changes that make a big difference

- Choose water over sugary drinks
- Move for at least 30 minutes a day
- Add more vegetables, beans, and whole grains to your meals
- Prioritise regular check-ups, especially if you have a family history of Diabetes

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men (ages 15–40).

It only takes a minute each month to do a self-check:

1️⃣ After a warm shower, gently roll each testicle between your index finger and thumb.
2️⃣ Feel for any lumps, swelling, or changes in size or shape.
3️⃣ If something feels off — don’t wait. Book a consultation with your doctor.

Early detection saves lives 💪

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men but when caught early, it’s highly treatable.

💡 Men over 50 (or over 45 with a family history) should talk to their doctor about PSA screening. Most laboratories have a special running for Movember where PSA tests are at a reduced cost 🩸

Early detection saves lives. Don’t wait - check in, get tested, and take control of your health.
