It’s National Stroke Week — Know the Signs. Act F.A.S.T. Save a Life.
Every second counts when it comes to a stroke. This week, from 28 October to 3 November, we join the call to raise awareness about the signs, risks, and prevention of strokes — one of the leading causes of disability and death in South Africa.
💡 Do you know the F.A.S.T. test?
It’s an easy way to remember the main signs of stroke and what to do in an emergency:
👉 F – Face: Check their face. Has one side drooped?
👉 A – Arms: Can they lift both arms, or does one drift downward?
👉 S – Speech: Is their speech slurred, strange, or hard to understand?
👉 T – Time: Act fast! If you notice ANY of these signs, call 112 (from a cellphone) or 10177 (from a landline) immediately.
A stroke is always a medical emergency. Quick action could mean the difference between full recovery and lifelong disability.
🏥 At Stutt Health Pharmacy, we care deeply about helping you manage your health before emergencies happen. Regular check-ups and managing chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol can drastically reduce your risk of stroke.
💪 Prevention starts with daily habits:
• Take breaks from sitting too long—move, stretch, and stay active.
• Go for short walks or add extra steps to your day.
• If you can, take the stairs for strength and balance.
• Aim for at least 15–30 minutes of physical activity a day.
• Eat heart-healthy foods and take your prescribed medication regularly.
Let’s work together to protect our hearts, our health, and our loved ones.
💚 Because every second saved is a life saved.
