"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
I was reminded of this quote from Maya Angelou recently.
A client described how difficult it was to think about a counselling session online, and was concerned about how it would "feel", The need to tell an untold story was so overwhelming that this need pushed her to give it a try. Once shared, the heavy load felt just a little lighter.
You've booked a session and it's absolutely normal to feel uncomfortable or apprehensive. You may even consider canceling at last minute. Many of us learned to speak with friends and family online during the pandemic. I am sure that it felt different, but the connection was still there. Counselling online is sort of like that - just you and your therapist, in a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental space.
The stories that need to be told can be told in this safe and confidential space.
Online counselling uses a virtual (online) platform such as WhatsApp Video call/ FaceTime/ Zoom.
As pointed out in an earlier post there are so many benefits to online counselling:
🗣 It can happen no matter where you are in the world
🗣Private
🗣Convenient
🗣No travel time
🗣Affordable
