Is your pain a "Green Light" or a "Red Flag"?

In the world of rehabilitation, not all pain is created equal! Sometimes that "burn" means you’re getting stronger, but other times it’s your body’s way of saying "STOP." 🛑

We’re breaking down the Good Pain vs. Bad Pain compilation so you know exactly when to push through and when to book a session.

A Double Celebration for Team Tokai! 🎂✨

Please join us in giving a massive Tokai-sized welcome to our newest team member, Chantel! We are so excited to have her expertise and energy on board to help our patients get back to their best.

But wait... there’s more! Not only is it Chantel’s first month, it’s also her Birthday! 🎈🎁 We couldn't have asked for a better "gift" for the clinic than having her join the family. Happy birthday Chantel!

They call him 00Cohen and he’ll take his martini dry!

Jason breaks down the benefits of shockwave therapy In short, it’s a treatment that uses targeted sound waves to stimulate healing in stubborn injuries — especially things like tendon pain, plantar fasciitis and chronic muscle issues.

It helps improve blood flow, encourages tissue repair and can get things moving again when an injury has been hanging around longer than it should.

It might sound a little intense (the name doesn’t help 😅), but it’s a well-established treatment that we use regularly for athletes and patients dealing with persistent pain.

If something has been bothering you for a while, it might be worth a chat with your physio. Book online at www.wpphysio.capetown

Back to the Monday grind… and for many of us, that also means back to tech neck.

Hours at a laptop or phone tend to overload the muscles at the base of the neck and shoulders — especially the upper trapezius and levator scapulae — which often leads to stiffness, headaches and poor posture.

Try these three simple exercises to loosen those muscles. Hot tip! It’s best to warm a muscle before stretching (use a bean bag or take a hot shower):

1. Upper traps stretch: Helps release tension in the muscles that carry a lot of the load when we sit hunched over a screen.

2. Levator scapulae stretch: Targets the deeper neck stabiliser that often gets tight with poor desk posture.

3. Deep neck flexor activation: This one is key. It strengthens the deep support muscles in the neck, which can help reduce pain and disability when trained consistently.
