If the video made you pause… that’s exactly the point!

Group dynamics are powerful, and when you understand what’s really happening beneath the surface, everything changes. OTGrow, in partnership with Hugenote Kollege, is launching an advanced postgraduate level short course that takes you deeper into the behaviours, patterns, and unseen forces that shape every team and community group. This is where facilitators, team leaders, community leaders, and committee chairs learn how to turn challenging moments into opportunities and how to guide groups towards accountability, connection, and cohesion. Why this intake is different:

- Only 15 spots available for true depth, interaction, and personalised learning.
- Earn 37 CPD points.
- A practical, insight-driven curriculum informed by real group behaviour just like what was explained in the video.
- Designed for people who want more than theory; they want transformation.

Seats are extremely limited. Applications close 30 March or sooner if all 15 places fill. Watch the video. Feel the impact. Then secure your place. The way you work with groups will never be the same.

‘OT’Grow With Us - Commitment 2 of 7: Grow your skills, grow yourself

At OTGrow, we believe that clinical competence and personal growth go hand in hand because great therapists aren’t just technically prepared, they’re deeply self aware. Every OTGrow workshop is designed to help you sharpen your clinical reasoning and learn something valuable about yourself along the way. Because when you grow as a person, you grow as a therapist. And your clients feel that growth too.

Stay with us, we’re releasing all 7 commitments in the coming weeks. Collect them, reflect on them, and make them your compass in practice. Follow OTGrow so you don’t miss Commitment 3.

‘OT’Grow With Us: 7 ways we commit to supporting your training journey

At OTGrow, we’ve spent years listening to what OTs need most, not just in theory, but in real practice. And one thing has become clear: the world is changing fast, and OTs need grounded, human centred support that grows with them. That’s why we’ve developed 7 core commitments to guide your training journey. These commitments are designed to uplift your confidence, strengthen your skills, and reconnect you to the heart of group work.

Commitment 1: Connection Before Everything. Before techniques… Before theory… Before tools and structure… Connection comes first. Because deep human connection is where safety, trust, play, healing, and transformation begin. When we reconnect with each other, and ourselves, everything else in the group process flows more naturally.

And we can’t wait to share the next six commitments with you over the coming days. Message us if you want to incorporate these commitments into your own team or student groups.

Ubuntu isn’t just a beautiful philosophy it’s a practical guide for how we facilitate groups.

In Part 5 (final) of our Ubuntu series, Louise and Michael unpack how “I am because we are” changes the way we hold:

- the individual
- the group-as-a-whole (the “X member”)
- cohesion + conflict
- real growth (not just “being nice”)

Reflection question: Do you lean more toward individualism (doing it alone) or toward blending into the group (keeping the peace)? Where do you sit on the Ubuntu continuum?

Share your reflection in the comments, we’d love to hear.

We’re wired for connection, and group therapy is where that wiring finds purpose. At OTGrow, we believe that healing happens in community. Occupational therapists who facilitate group work know the power of shared stories, mutual support, and collective resilience.

Whether you’re an OT, a caregiver, or someone seeking meaningful connection, group therapy offers a space to be seen, heard, and understood. Join the conversation: What does connection mean in your practice or life?

Ubuntu in Group Facilitation (Part 4). How do we facilitate Ubuntu in a therapy group without controlling, rescuing, or “performing” as the leader? In this episode, Louise and Michael unpack what it actually looks like to lead Ubuntu in the room:

- Facilitator as a “sheepdog” (guiding, not controlling)
- Why we must sometimes facilitate conflict (not avoid it)
- The golden thread of Ubuntu: “I am because we are” and how it builds cohesion + dignity
- Ending with dignity including the powerful 30-second rule

Question for you: What’s hardest for you as a group facilitator right now: cohesion, conflict, structure, or endings?
