Uncorrected refractive error [ Myopia (Shortsightedness), Hyperopia (Farsightedness), Astigmatism, and Presbyopia] is the second most common cause of avoidable visual impairment/blindness after cataract. Blindness due to refractive error can hinder education, personality development, and career opportunities, in addition to causing an economic burden on society. Fortunately, refractive errors can be easily corrected with spectacles or contact lenses.
