Today marks 22 years of Teremok Lodge & Spa being operational. While a lot has happened and changed in these 22 years, the ownership (the Davidson Trilogy), ethos, quality and experience all remain the same. As a small, privately-owned establishment, we are immensely proud of the reputation that the establishment has garnered over the years, and of the consistently high level of service the Teremok Team continues to deliver. We have seen some guests becoming like family, returning year after year, as we welcome them back and meet their personalised needs and requests. We are eternally grateful for the support that we’ve continued to receive locally and internationally from individuals, corporates, and the travel industry who have put us on the map in more than a location sense. Our thoughts are with the Esse Family who are reeling from the loss of their founder and owner. Trevor was, literally and figuratively, a force of nature and we know his passion and innovation will be carried forward by the team he mentored.
With great sadness, we share the passing of Trevor Steyn, Founder and CEO of Esse.
Trevor dedicated his life to remaking the skincare system — guided by microbiome science, a strong ethical foundation, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability. His vision will continue to lead us forward.

Once Upon A Wish…
It is fate that brought us to Teremok, an expansive Umhlanga holiday home turned boutique lodge and spa. Over four decades, it had overflowed with three generations of the Vladykin family which began in pre-revolution Russia, included a lifelong fairy tale romance and, finally, came to rest with us – a mother and two daughters.
But it was serendipity, that marvellously unpredictable force, that allowed us to weave our own tale. Flippantly dubbed the ‘Davidson Trilogy’, we delighted in taking on the title as we are indeed three related but different creative works. Discovering this soulful property allowed us, being discerning and sometimes demanding travellers, to embrace our idiosyncrasies as we relished creating an urban hideaway with extreme attention to detail. Teremok Lodge & Spa encapsulates everything that we wished to find at the end of a journey.
And so began our story when we opened our doors 21 years ago today… once upon a wish.

We staged our very own spa revolution... From the moment you open the door and are enveloped in the heady scent of vanilla, and slowly take in the interior design and décor elements, it is evident that Teremok Spa is anything but conventional. A riot of colour and texture, we have chosen to evoke the senses on all levels rather than offer a minimalist environment that has no soul.
The vision was to create an urban apothecary that offered an antidote to daily stress. It purposefully incorporates only two individually themed treatment rooms in order to offer a heartfelt bespoke experience, as well as a relaxation area where guests are encouraged to enjoy a cappuccino and relax before or after their treatment.
Open seven days a week, the Spa has highly qualified master therapists, and offers a full range of face, body and slimming treatments available using the internationally acclaimed product lines Juliette Armand, Mio, Mama Mio and Thalgo. Facial treatments are supplemented by state-of-the-art, non-invasive anti-aging technology. Naked Cherry is our choice for professional waxing treatments as well as effective take-home solutions. We use South African brands Medi Heel and Medi Hands in treatments and offer their retail solutions.
The quirky retail space is an outlet for Teremok owners Tracy, Kim and Debbie to showcase and sell personally selected items that include anything from bottles of old fashioned sweets to handmade jewellery, offbeat greeting cards and beautiful designer clothing.
