The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation (FREF), in partnership with Feenix, is offering an extraordinary opportunity for students currently pursuing a one-year full-time Honours in STEM or a BA Honours in Psychology.

Through this partnership, the FREF Postgrad Bursary supports talented postgraduate students from under-resourced communities to continue their studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields.

🎓 Meet Ndumiso, a Civil Engineering student with steady hands, sharp focus, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Now in his third year at Durban University of Technology, Ndumiso is no stranger to hard work. Raised by a single mother in a small town, he learned early what it means to persevere.

His decision to pursue engineering comes from a desire to address South Africa’s infrastructure challenges and build a more equitable future for all.

Alongside his studies, he tutors high school learners in Maths and Physical Science, a reminder of the power of education and the importance of giving back.

The only thing standing in his way now is an unpaid tuition balance. Without support, he won’t be able to continue his studies. Your contribution helps keep Ndumiso on track and strengthens a future defined by skills, service, and purpose.
