A simple, delicious way to serve mussels: 🦪✨ Use our crumbed garlic mussels straight from the freezer — or make your own by filling half-shell mussels with butter and parsley.

Here’s how:
1. Grill the mussels in the oven until golden.
2. Add roasted pumpkin — it soaks up all those buttery juices beautifully.
3. Serve with toasted pita and cream cheese.

The pumpkin makes the perfect sweet smear before adding the salty mussel. So good. 🤤

Curry pasta salad, anyone? A South African favourite — now with a boost! Add some spicy cooked mussels and turn it into the perfect little summer starter for your guests. 🦪🔥

Basic Curry Pasta Salad Recipe:
Ingredients
- 250g pasta
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1–2 tsp curry powder
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 cup Boerie Relish
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp chutney
- Salt & pepper to taste

Method
1. Cook pasta according to packet instructions.
2. Sauté onions in oil until soft, then stir in curry powder and turmeric.
3. Add Boerie Relish and cook for about 5 minutes
4. Mix in mayo, chutney, salt, and pepper.
5. Combine this sauce with the drained pasta and top with spicy cooked mussels. Remember to serve this chilled. A squeeze of fresh lemon will also do!

Simple, flavourful, and so South African.

Wholesome meets indulgent. 🥦🦪 Broccoli bread slices topped with cheese and Blue Ocean Mussels - a light, nutrient-packed snack.

Ingredients:
- 250 g broccoli (finely chopped or grated)
- 3 eggs
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¾ cup cake flour

Method:
1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
2. Scoop the thick mixture into a greased loaf pan.
3. Bake at 180°C for 25 minutes, or until golden on top.
4. Optional: sprinkle pumpkin or sunflower seeds over the top before baking for extra crunch.

Enjoy warm with butter, cheese, and mussels on top. 🦪✨

Local mussels are mostly grown in Saldanha Bay on the West-Coast of South Africa through suspended ropes in the ocean, it’s like agriculture, only in the ocean, thus aquaculture or mariculture. Raft suspended culture is free of grit and sand because they are raised off the bottom of the ocean.

Our mussels are left for around 8 months before harvesting, untouched by any human intervention, the cold nutrient rich Benguela Ocean current is all that is needed to feed and produce some of the best tasting mussels in the world. Blue Ocean Mussels has no hatcheries and rely on natural settlement.
