When you spot a snail crossing the path, the instinct is to pick it up by the shell and move it somewhere safer. It's a good intention — but the way most people do it can cause serious internal damage. 🐌

The mantle is a thin, soft tissue that connects the snail's body to its shell. The muscular foot secretes a powerful adhesive mucus that anchors the snail firmly to whatever surface it's resting on. That grip is deliberate — it keeps the snail hydrated, protected, and stable.

Pulling a snail away from a surface suddenly risks tearing that mantle tissue or rupturing the connection between body and shell. These injuries aren't visible from the outside, but they can be irreversible.

The correct method takes less than a minute:

- Touch the shell gently to signal your presence
- Wait about 30 seconds for the snail to retract and release its own grip
- Lift slowly, without force
- Set it down facing the direction it was already heading — it had chosen that direction for a reason

Garden snails in Australia are the introduced common garden snail, present in almost every temperate and subtropical backyard. They're part of the local ecosystem now, feeding ground beetles, blue-tongue lizards, and thrush. Moving one carefully rather than yanking it is a small thing that makes a real difference. 🌿

Bee Natural was formulated fifteen years ago when we discovered the amazing properties of beeswax. After around two years of experimenting with different ingredients, quantities and consistencies, we were able to produce a cutting edge, head to toe healing balm- effective in every aspect of beautifying and healing. We soon realized the potential our products in the local market, leading to progressive distribution nationwide and internationally. Currently our products are available in all Dis-Chem stores nationwide, Wellness Warehouse, independent pharmacies, health shops and beauty salons, on-line we have teamed up with Faithful-to-Nature who handle all our on-line orders.

We are passionate about promoting and making use of South Africa's rich variety of resources and are active participants in the momentum towards creating an empowered and self-sustaining nation. It gives us much pride and joy to include previously disadvantaged woman in the production of our products and promote them as the business grows form strength to strength. We also realize the importance of conserving and respecting our natural surroundings. As any form of economic participation results in the exploitation of earths often non - renewable resources, we are keen on reducing our carbon footprint and have hence established reliable agents in every province of the country.
