The past few weeks I have been battling with a pinched nerve 🥴 It's one of those injuries that demands rest... and demands patience!

In between the rest and the healing it has allowed me to truly connect to this area of tension and imbalance - the one that sits right between the neck and the shoulder blades. The place in our body that often represents the responsibilities that we hold - the carrying of other's burdens as well as our own ✨

There are *5 fundamental things* that must be avoided, or brought into balance, to ensure a life of longevity and these are :-

What a beautiful colour!
And it's true what they say "we eat with our eyes first"!

This soup is a wonderful way to bring in a high volume of cruciferous vegetables which are a powerhouse of all the veggies 💪🏻 The benefits found in these vegetables restore and balance many organs and systems including lung function, immune regulation and hormonal dysfunction.

*Cream Of Broccoli Soup*

*Ingredients*

½ cup chopped yellow onion or shallots
¼ cup chopped carrots
3 garlic cloves, minced
5 cups chopped broccoli (about 1 large head broccoli)
1 cup chopped cauliflower
2 cups chopped potato
3 ½ cups water
1 ¼ tsps dried thyme
1 ¼ tsps dried oregano
1 ¼ tsps paprika
Sea salt, to taste (optional)
Black pepper, to taste (optional)
2 tbsps roughly chopped fresh parsley, to serve (optional)

*Directions*

Heat a bit of water over medium heat in a large pot (ceramic, if possible). Add the chopped onion and carrot. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the carrots, broccoli florets, cauliflower, and diced potatoes to the pot. Sauté for 2 to 3 minutes, then pour in the water. Add the thyme, oregano, and paprika. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook until the vegetables are tender, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove 2 cups of cooked veggies from the pot using a slotted spoon and set aside. Carefully blend the soup in a blender, or with an immersion blender in the cooking pot, until it becomes smooth and creamy. Be cautious when blending hot liquids; it’s best to do it in batches if using a regular blender.

Return the blended soup to the pot if using a regular blender, then place the pot back on the stove over low heat. Add 1 1/4 cups of the removed veggies back to the pot and stir well. Season with sea salt and pepper to taste (if using).

Divide the soup between serving bowls and top with the remaining veggies and parsley (if using). Serve immediately.

I always call food served in a bowl a "happy meal" because it's like digging for pieces of heavenly delight 😌 For today's I have included a wonderful option for you to use as a breakfast or fruity snack when looking to heal -

Mixing the healing ingredients of papaya, blueberries and bananas this dish not only satisfies the taste buds but it also encourages healing from within. The combined power of these 3 fruits creates a healing blend that supports *digestion*, *detoxification*, *neurological health* and *emotional balance*.

*Papaya Bowl*

*Ingredients*

4 cups chopped papaya
2 tbsps raw honey or pure maple syrup, or 2 pitted Medjool dates
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice (optional)

*Toppings*

1 fresh ripe banana, sliced
2 tbsps wild blueberries, fresh or thawed frozen

*Directions*

*Are you a crafty one?*

It was during my healing journey that I began to dabble in a few hobbies - 5 years on I have a basketful of different things that I lean into from birdwatching, painting, crocheting, dancing, singing, yoga, trail walking, language learning and miniature making my world of inspiration and creation is full!

Research shows that when you engage in a hobby you invite amazing benefits into your life which includes a reduction of stress, improved mental health, better physical well-being, and enhanced cognitive skills like problem-solving.

The below is a condensed list of the top hobbies that aid mindfulness, longevity, health and mental well-being :-
