I wanted to share with you the reason why I started making the mastectomy pillows. When my dad’s fiancé was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a double mastectomy, I witnessed firsthand the challenges she faced even before her surgery. They were looking for the mastectomy pillows but couldn’t find it, so they asked me to search the internet. It was during this time that I realized the lack of available resources, particularly mastectomy pillows, here in South Africa. Knowing what discomfort she will be experiencing and the absence of proper support prompted me to take action. I decided to create these pillows to provide a sense of comfort and relief for those who go through similar experiences. These pillows are not just mere accessories; they are symbols of empathy, care, and understanding for the journey that cancer survivors embark on. By making these mastectomy pillows, I hope to contribute a small but meaningful difference to the lives of individuals recovering from surgery. It's my way of extending the support and love that my dad’s fiancé deserved during her recovery.
