One of the most rewarding treatments to give - pregnancy massage.
The uncomfortability of pregnancy is such a difficult one because you don't want to feel like you're complaining all the time, but you're sore and there isn't much you can do to relieve the discomfort. I love pregnancy massage because it's one time that mom's feel happy and relaxed and leave feeling better than when they walked in ♡
Thanks for coming to see me

World pregnancy week is this week. I will be celebrating with a few helpful pointers to do with pregnancy...

* Ligament pain*

Ligament pain is very common during pregnancy. I have found a few pictures that help illustrate why this is.
The most common problem is due to the round ligament. The round ligament attaches your uterus to your p***c bone in the front. As your uterus grows to accommodate your baby, this ligament is put under tension and this causes pain. This cannot be prevented completely as we need the uterus to grow but it can cause alot of groin pain as we get closer to the end of pregnancy. There are a few ways of helping this. Correcting posture, gentle stretches and pregnancy massage are the most helpful strategies for this type of pain. Some women also experience pain of the ligaments by their back, this can also be helped with posture correction, stretching and massage.

☆ The best sunny day activity ☆
A spray gun and a soft cloth, now wash the car! I supervised while reading a book and refilling the water bottle... win win!
Fine and gross motor skills are a win with the pumping of the bottle to increase pressure and the spraying. Great all body strength with squatting to clean low and stretching to clean high. Also great for independence and self confidence. Yes we were over the top in his praise but we were praising his effort more than the actual work. But the child left the activity tired and satisfied ♡

* c-section scars *
This year I have had an increase in patients YEARS after having c-sections coming to me for treatment on these areas. Most of these mom's didn't even know that physio could help until extensive Google searching recommended physio enough times for them to try it out.
Your scar can affect so many aspects of your body, firstly, your breathing. So many mom's have neck and shoulder pain from their scars bracing their abdominal area and stopping the diaphragm from moving through it's full range. This is causing breathing in the top part of your lungs only and often results in neck and shoulder pain and headaches.
Your scar can also cause lower back pain. The connection of your scar to the muscles supporting your lower back is impossible to dissect. They are linked in every way and are a huge cause of lower back pain.
Your scar can also be a contributing factor to incontinence, leaking urine or f***l matter. Leaking while coughing, sneezing, jumping or running. Many of these can be helped by working with your scar and your biomechanics of your abdominal area ♡

Why not try this if you're battling! Helps with pain, stress levels and increases blood flow.

Sometimes breastfeeding support means... GIVING BACK RUBS! Shoulder massages and back rubs can have a positive effect on let down. Try this no-cost method to get that milk flowing.
In "The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk," the authors share, "One particularly effective method is to have someone "spine walk" their knuckles on either side of your spine, from neck to waist. This may cause a shiver or chill sensation that also triggers milk ejection. Another technique is to have someone massage your shoulder close to the neck as you're nursing or pumping to stimulate an acupressure point that can trigger milk ejection."
At the very least, you'll feel more relaxed!
