Anel Louw Equine Therapist

Anel Louw Equine Therapist Cert. ETT practitioner that by using the Winks Greene Transeva as it was intended, can pinpoint and R300 for a session of 45mins- 1hour.

Travel charged at R3/per km. I am an Equine Transeva Technique (ETT) Practioner that uses the Winks Greene Transeva machine to treat and correct muscular-skeletal problems. Trained in the way Winks intended the faradic machine to be used. How It Works And For What It Helps:
It uses a faradic pulse that rhythmically contracts the muscles allowing me to pinpoint site of injury and correct it. I am able to work individual muscle groups with the machine and so get the best as well as correct muscle movement. It is able to work on deep muscle problems because of the adjustable pulse and intensity. The machine has a negative plate I place at the withers with a surcingle and a positive hand piece that I use to feel and work all over the horse. With the machine contracting and releasing the muscle like it would naturally if a horse was using it and my hand moving all over and feeling it, I can find all the problem areas. The machine increases circulation that helps with healing, removal of waste like lactic acid and to supply the muscle with nutrients, O2 etc. It removes the build up of lymph so in the case of a banged knee or hock for example. It is very good for tendon injuries due to the removal of lymph and increase of circulation thus speeding up recovery. It helps for Hematomas, weak stifles/locking, tying-up, Sweeney shoulders and nerve problems like where nerves get trapped, pinched and atrophy takes place. I can also mark little spots on problem areas so it can be injected with homeopathic medicine like B12, Niven Lame or Traumeel by your vet. This really helps with breaking down scar tissue even faster and is fantastic for before big events or competitions. There are SIGNS to look out for that your horse will give to indicate muscular problems- Stiff on one rein, struggling to pick up one rein, disuniting, bucking, head/neck to one side or shaking, constant shifting of hind legs when standing still, walking wide behind, limited tail swing, short when cinched up, constant tripping, uneven diagonals, struggling to hock up, racehorses struggling to jump out of pens etc. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. The treatment does not affect training, after a session you can even saddle up directly and ride, so no time off needed. I also am a rehab rider so if needed will suggest exercises to help work the problem areas that I treated. I do also treat other animals like dogs etc.

"lost for words"

In April 2021, Oscar's Winner returned from the paddock the day after her race, in serious strive. Her neck and whole Topline was in spasm. She was uncoordinated - wobbling. The X-rays revealed a life threatening fracture in her neck.

The prognosis wasn't good and the humane option was discussed but Oscar's Winner didn't agree. She wanted to live and even though the next few months was going to be very difficult - she seemed well up for the challenge.

With a long and slow recovery and rehabilitation, it appeared that she'll pull through and might even be paddock-sound, a potentially great outcome. A tougher broodmare would be hard to find.

But she had other plans. Her clinical signs improved. The wobbling symptoms became less and eventually disappeared.

Weeks of hand-walking and hand-grazing, eventually gave way to months in the paddock.

"Can we put her back into work? Should we?"

Softy, gently we did. She loved being back in work. Gradually we stepped it up, never stressing her. Today was the first time she was allowed to come off the bit and she exploded when given her head. She mowed them down from the back of the field.

Such a brave performance, by this little lion-heart.

Thank you to Mrs Plattner for her patience and the the vets, physio (Anel Louw) and team for all the LOVE and care.

Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and happy new year!! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Was asked to treat this boy because he's been working with his head high up in the air. Definitely have some issues at C3 we need to sort out.
And I think I found the down button. He was really enjoying stretching down as I worked through the problem areas. 😌

So Cape Town Met...

Well my horses ran like the superstars they are. I still feel a little awestruck. 🀩

1st - Rainbow Bridge
2nd - Belgarion
4th - Do It Again

I mean, how can I not be proud with results like that! πŸ†

Aand there's a extra πŸ’ on top to make it all that much sweeter for me.

So I started my journey in the equine industry about 10 years ago as assistant trainer to none other than Eric Sands. In the year I worked as assistant to Eric, he taught me bucket loads and it all helped me immensely when I went on to study at BSET academy. In the year I was working at the yard, there was a mare in training that was called Halfway To Heaven. πŸ˜‰ Little did I know how this would all unfold years later.

Fast track to today and what this all means to me. It's a 'coming full circle' feeling. Working at the yard again, but now treating the horses for Eric. And working on Halfway To Heaven's babies: Golden Ducat and Rainbow Bridge.
And then Rainbow Bridge comes down flying to win the Met on Saturday. πŸ€—πŸ’œ All pretty surreal.

Well done to all the connections and special well done to Eric and his team πŸ†

I do use other modalities where I feel necessary. I have a TENS / EMS machine that I use and sometimes even leave with a client to use until the next session. I incorporate K-tape when needed and usually end up taping horse and rider - especially at endurance competitions. I’ll give exercises for homework when there are specific problems that need to be focused on and have even jumped on myself when I want to feel what the horse is doing. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
