When we love our neighbors as we love ourselves, the world will know peace.
Esnart seated here has been our friend for more than 10 years. She and her sister are the first conjoined twins to be medically separated in Zambia more than 20 years ago! Unfortunately, the surgery left her with physical challenges and a couple of years ago she developed some pretty painful bed sores. We've been helping her and her mom move to and from the national hospital in Lusaka for a decade, but after her wounds failed to heal, we decided to try a different approach.
We wanted to keep Esnart closer to make sure she received the care she deserves. Under the guidance of Dr. Muzitu,a true servant to the people, our capable nurses cleaned Esnart's wounds twice a day. We rented her and her Mother a house nearby and enjoyed having them around to share meals, laughter, and stories. We are pleased to announce that after a month of such close care Esnart had a succesful review today, and her wounds which have persisted for more than two years are nearly healed.
We love Esnart as our sister just as we see all of our clients as our loved ones. Without our clients, we surely wouldn't be all we are today! One family, sharing in love and service. For those of you who support this work, you are absolutely counted among us.

Everyday, our GLOWBFC clubs are becoming more than just clubs. They are safe spaces for empowerment, creativity, innovation, and growth.

Arts and crafts are not just activities, but powerful tools for learning and economic opportunity. Through creative sessions, we help young people develop critical thinking skills, patience, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. They learn to turn ideas into tangible products. In a country like Zambia, where youth entrepreneurship is key to economic growth, creative skills can open doors to small businesses, self-employment, and financial independence. That's how valuable this can be.

When young people are guided to see beyond the activity and understand the value of their creativity, arts and crafts can grow into real business opportunities. What starts as a simple design can become a brand. What begins as a club project can turn into a source of income.

Pictured here is our Resource Club during an arts and crafts session, building practical skills and preparing members not just for today, but for future opportunities in the business world. Welcome to the world of arts and crafts!

What helps a young person thrive?

As GLOWBFC project has allowed us to bring diverse young people together, we have learned over the years that many young people struggle to grow when they feel restricted or unheard. Adolescence is a season of curiosity, change, and transition. The more young people are caged, the more confused and inquisitive they may become. Just like other age groups, young people too deserve a free space to ask questions, understand themselves, and grow with confidence.

Young people deserve privacy and respect. At the same time, they need strong guidance and mentorship to help them make wise decisions and avoid choices they may later regret. Balance, support, and trust are key.

Through GLOWBFC, we remain committed to creating safe, supportive environments where young people can build meaningful connections and develop life skills that shape their future. We are proud of the growth we see in them every single day.A safe space where they are free to be themselves and guided to make informed decisions.

What Next After High School? When Is the Right Time to Think About Tertiary Education?

After high school, many young people ask, what next? While in school, it's hard for them to think of the future because they remain very focused on passing their grade 12 exams. While financial challenges can delay progress, indecision is also a major reason many young people stay stuck.

Indecision does not only delay dreams,. it can also affect ones' mental health. Confusion and uncertainty about the future can lead to stress, anxiety, and loss of confidence. That is why planning early and seeking guidance is very important.

We are proud of our graduates who have recently enrolled at the University of Zambia (UNZA) School of Business and others at Nkumbi International College studying Agriculture and Automotive Mechanics. Your courage to move forward inspires us all!

Plan ahead! Take action! Protect your peace! Time waits for nobody, your future starts now.

As education continues to shape our society, every child deserves a safe and supportive place to learn and thrive. For many girls in rural Zambian communities, going to a boarding school is more than just a school placement, it is a life-changing opportunity. It is a major step toward tertiary education and a brighter future. In many rural areas, a girl who goes to boarding school is seen differently with pride, hope, and respect.

When you support our youth, you are not only paying school fees or providing school materials, you are helping to create the safe and conducive learning environment they have always dreamed of and helping them come out of confinement. You are helping them move closer to their
dreams and cross bridges they once thought were impossible.

Thank you for standing with Bakashana's vision and believing in the power of education.
We are truly grateful.

Community Outreach in high Violence areas
On Friday, our team visited Nseluka for a focused community outreach initiative. This visit was part of our ongoing commitment to building stronger relationships by engaging directly with the communities we serve through youth clubs and social services.
The primary goal of our outreach was to gain insights into the needs and priorities of the community, specifically focusing on response and support to violence cases. As we continue to work towards reducing violence in Nseluka and our broader community it’s vital that we not only hear but actively listen to the voices of those whose lives are most affected by said violence.
During the visit, we held an interactive session where community members were encouraged to share their perspectives, concerns, and ideas for improvement. It was an enriching conversation that helped us better understand the specific challenges they face, as well as the potential solutions they see for their community’s future and our future sensitizations.
The feedback gathered will play an essential role in shaping the next phase of our work there. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to refine our approach based on this community-driven feedback, ensuring that future interventions are not only more effective but are also directly aligned with local needs.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nseluka community for their warm welcome, active participation, and invaluable contributions as well as Lawyers Without Borders for supporting this work. This outreach is just one of many steps we’re taking to create lasting, meaningful impact together.

Have you ever thought about what home really means?
At Bakashana, a home is more than a place to live. It is a place to laugh, learn, and ask questions ,and most importantly, to grow. It is where people are empowered to thrive and pursue their dreams.

Pictured here is one of the incredible women from the Bakashana Knitting Club. Through this program, women bring their talents, strengthen their skills, and work hard to earn a sustainable living. Over the years, they have grown into independent, and confident women who truly represent what empowerment in action looks like. As we continue addressing violence in the home, we also encourage women to invest in their talents through various means as a pathway to economic independence and long-term prosperity because success is not only achieved through formal education but also our talents and gifts!!
