Understanding Vaginal Discharge: What’s Normal & What’s Not

* Clear and stretchy discharge
Often seen around ovulation.
Looks like egg white and helps s***m move easily.
A sign of high fertility — completely normal.
* White or milky discharge
Common before or after your period.
Normal if there’s no itching or smell.
If it becomes thick and clumpy (like cottage cheese), it may suggest Vaginal candidiasis.
* Yellow discharge
Light yellow can be normal.
Dark yellow with odor may suggest infection.
* Green discharge
Often a sign of infection, especially STIs like Trichomoniasis.
Usually comes with itching or discomfort.
* Gray discharge
Thin gray discharge with a fishy smell is a classic sign of Bacterial vaginosis.
This needs treatment.
* Brown discharge
Usually old blood leaving the body.
Common at the end of a period.
If it happens randomly, get checked.
* Bloody discharge (outside your period)
May be due to hormonal changes or infections.
Persistent spotting should not be ignored.
* Watery discharge
Can be normal with hormonal changes.
If excessive or persistent, consider checking.
