The mindset behind our successful and lesson filled projects.
So I have been blessed enough to have been on different film sets in this industry. Each set has taught me many things. Some sets taught me what I want and others what I don't want. I have picked what has helped me create my ideal production environment. A mindset Change environment.
Things I Implement on Set to Ensure a Smooth Production
1. Good Food is Fuel: Let's be real, shooting can be draining! Providing good food for cast and crew is essential. It's not just about feeding people; it's about fueling their energy and creativity. Plus, it helps relieve stress and creates a positive vibe on set.
2. Know Your Crew's Needs: Before production starts, I make sure to find out about any allergies or special needs. It's not just about avoiding issues; it's about showing you care. Whether it's a dietary restriction or a special request, I'm all about making sure everyone feels included.
3. Respect is Key: Intimidation and shouting have no place on my set. I believe in fostering a positive and respectful environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to bring their A-game. It's amazing how much more creative and productive people can be when they feel supported.
4. Transportation Matters: I don't want my cast or crew worrying about how they will get to set or back, i want them to focus on their creativity. That's why I always make sure to provide reliable transportation for my cast and crew. It's a small gesture that goes a long way.
5. Crew and Cast are a Team: Your crew is just as important as your cast. They're the ones who work behind the scenes to bring your vision to life. I make sure to show my appreciation for their hard work and respect their contributions.
6. Little Touches Make a Big Difference: For my cast, I like to go the extra mile. Whether it's their favorite snack or a bouquet of flowers, I want them to feel like stars. It's these little gestures that can make a big difference in their performance and overall experience.
7. A Healthy Environment = A Productive Team: When people feel valued, respected, and supported, they're more likely to go the extra mile and bring their best work. That's why I prioritize creating a healthy and positive environment on set. It's not just about getting the shot; it's about creating something special together.
8. NEGOTIATIONS: Negotiating does not mean you are difficult. This is just two parties trying to find common ground. You SHOULD negotiate, it is part of the process, if anyone tells you otherwise or insinuate that, they should be ashamed of themselves and tell them I said that!!! Call me, I'm your official manager from now on.
9. YOUR PAY: Value for work creates magic. When you feel like your craft is being appreciated... it's a whole other ball game. When you are on a tight budget it's important to let your artist know in advance what you are working with not lying. I know many artists that supported me because they just believed in the story and did it for free and I will always be grateful.
Some thoughts I felt should share which should be standard really... but oh well .. to each producer their own.
Have a beautiful day my lovies.
UNAPOLOGETICALLY ME!!
