TYPES OF VAGINAL DISCHARGE

1. Thick, white, itchy discharge is fungal infection (candida) or yeast. It does not smell bad. Quite often you see it at the beginning and at the end of your cycle. Generally goes away but if it persists you need to suspent. We also see it a lot in pregnancy and in patients who have low immunity of any cause.

2. Clear like egg white and stretchy is normal. You see this when you are ovulating. It should not have a bad smell otherwise it could yeast infection or fungal infection. In some ladies it can also be creamy, light grey or white. That's a sign to show that they is an infection.

3. Red discharge or discharge with some blood is normal if you are nearing the beginning of your cycle. If your period is very far it means you could either be injured or you have a growth (poly or cancer) particularly if the redness comes after s*x.

4. A Brown discharge is seen because the acid in the va**na turns blood into a brownish colour. It is normal if you see this during or after your cycle.
