The Kasanda Clinic Youth Friendly Space, through the Young People’s Program (YPP), took HIV prevention services closer to the community with a powerful outreach dialogue targeting adolescents in the Kasanda catchment area.

Led by Mr. Richard Silwamba, YPP Focal Point Person, the initiative created a safe and engaging space where young people could openly discuss their health, ask questions, and access essential services.

The outreach delivered life changing information on Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and STI prevention — empowering adolescents with knowledge to make informed and responsible decisions about their health.

This outreach not only strengthened access to youth friendly HIV prevention services but also reinforced the importance of early testing, prevention, and positive health-seeking behavior within the community. When we equip young people with the right information and services, we build healthier futures.

This week, our Country Program Manager (CPM) connected with teams across the southern and northern parts of Lusaka, reinforcing a culture of growth, ownership, and teamwork.

At the heart of every engagement was one powerful reminder: each and every one of us — regardless of title or role — is an ambassador of the AHF brand. How we serve, how we communicate, and how we carry ourselves must consistently reflect who we are as an organization.

The sessions were not just about direction, they were about dialogue. Staff actively participated in an open and engaging Q&A, sharing ideas, asking questions, and aligning around our bold vision of leading boldly, growing intentionally, and being seen.

A special highlight from the northern visit was Chifundo Clinic, proudly recognized as a 3rd place finisher in the retention challenge among all AHF-supported facilities, a testament to dedication, consistency, and teamwork.

Here’s to building stronger teams, owning our impact, and representing the brand with pride — everywhere we serve.

The Southern Region marked International Condom Day in style at Makalanguzu Market in Choma, with Ms. Rose Masaku, Provincial AIDS Coordinating Advisor, alongside community leaders, AHF teams, volunteers, and young champions from Shampande Urban Clinic leading the charge in the fight against HIV.

From HIV testing and STI screening to myth-busting sessions and powerful conversations on consistent and correct condom use, the outreach delivered life-saving information directly to the community. Awareness on VMMC and cervical cancer prevention was amplified — and thousands of free condoms were distributed to truck drivers, traders, and local residents.

Meanwhile, Mazabuka, Livingstone, and Monze joined the movement through strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health, JICA, District Health Offices, local councils, and civil society — reaching Nakambala Market and surrounding areas with comprehensive HIV prevention services.

The response? Overwhelmingly positive.
The impact? Far-reaching.
The message? Protection is power — Just Use It!

AHF Central Region Marks International Condoms Day in Style – “Just Use It!”

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Central Region proudly commemorated International Condoms Day (ICD) with an energetic and impactful outreach under this year’s bold theme: “Just Use It.”

The day kicked off with a powerful live discussion on KNC Radio, where AHF representatives engaged listeners on the life-saving benefits of consistent and correct condom use in preventing HIV, STIs, STDs, and unintended pregnancies. The conversation encouraged responsible health-seeking behavior and empowered the community with practical prevention knowledge.

From the airwaves to the streets — the momentum continued!
The team moved into the town center for condom distribution and community engagement, spreading prevention messages loud and clear. The outreach later culminated at Mukuni College of Health Sciences and Technology, where students and young people actively participated in health education sessions and condom awareness campaigns.

The event was graced by officials from the Ministry of Health Zambia, including representatives from the Provincial and District Health Offices, alongside college management. Speaking on behalf of the institution, Mrs. Hamunganyu expressed heartfelt appreciation for the partnership and called for continued collaboration to strengthen student health initiatives.

Representing the National AIDS Council Zambia, Mr. Nickson Kapansa applauded AHF Zambia’s unwavering commitment in supporting national efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, STIs, STDs, TB, and scale up VMMC services. He emphasized that the partnership between AHF and the Ministry of Health continues to grow stronger and more impactful.

In his remarks, Regional Medical Manager Dr. Fred Kasweka reinforced a simple but powerful message: Condoms work — when used consistently and correctly. They remain one of the most effective tools in preventing HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, and unintended pregnancies.

This successful commemoration reflects the strength of collaboration between AHF Zambia, government health authorities, and academic institutions in advancing public health awareness across the Central Region.

👏 AHF Central Region Management extends sincere gratitude to the organizing team, Ministry of Health officials, stakeholders, and all staff who made this year’s International Condoms Day outreach a resounding success.

In his address, he emphasized the importance of delaying sexual debut and consistently using condoms as a triple protection measure against STIs, unplanned pregnancies, and HIV.

The atmosphere was electric! Students actively participated in interactive dialogue, engaging Q&A sessions, and practical demonstrations on correct condom use. They openly discussed common myths and misconceptions surrounding condoms — breaking stigma through knowledge.

Our speakers encouraged students to become ambassadors of safe sexual practices within their communities, carrying the message beyond campus walls.
