Poorly controlled diabetes mellitus can result in chronic kidney disease, retinopathy (damage to the retina of your eye with eventual blindness), myocardial infarction ( heart attack), stroke, neuropathy ( damage to the nerves), peripheral vascular disease( narrowing of the arteries supplying blood to the limbs).
Risk of the above complications of diabetes is worse if you are also hypertensive.
