PHYSIOTHERAPY IS MORE THAN A CAREER — IT’S A CALLING
Today, we share a true life story that deserves to be told. A story that reminds us why Physiotherapy matters.
In her late 30s, a mother made a bold decision: to return to school and pursue a Diploma in Physiotherapy at LAMU - Lusaka Apex Medical University. Not for prestige. Not for grades. Not for money.
But for a purpose.
Her journey began 15 years ago when she gave birth to a breech baby who was later diagnosed with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. At the time, she had no idea what Physiotherapy was. Like many parents, she moved from one medical department to another—searching, hoping, praying for answers.
And then she was told something that changed everything:
👉 “Only Physiotherapists can help in this case.”
From that moment, her world shifted.
She began attending Physiotherapy sessions with her child. She watched. She learned. She saw hands restore function, patience rebuild hope, and consistency create progress where medicine alone could not. She realized something powerful, there are conditions only Physiotherapists truly understand and manage.
Over the years, that observation turned into admiration. Admiration turned into conviction. And now, that conviction has become action.
While many choose careers for financial security or academic achievement, this mother chose Physiotherapy out of lived experience, love, and purpose. She didn’t just see Physiotherapy—she felt its impact.
This is the heart of the profession.
This is why Physiotherapy is not just a course—it’s a ministry of movement, dignity, and hope.
👏 We celebrate her courage.
👏 We honour her journey.
👏 We salute her purpose.
Now we ask you—
What made YOU pursue Physiotherapy?
Was it passion, experience, inspiration, or a personal story?
