Let's follow instructions.

1. When you are instructed to take a medication three(3) times a day, it actually means you should take it every 8 hours.

Example: 06hrs, 14hrs and 22hr.

2. When it’s two(2) times a day, it means you’re to take it every 12 hours.

Example: 06hrs and 18hrs or 08hrs and 20hrs

3. When it’s four times a day, it means every 6 hours.

Examole: 06hrs, 12hours, 18hrs and 24hours.

4. When you are required to take it once daily, try to pick a particular time. You can choose either 08hrs or 19hrs, depending on your schedule.

This is usually done to ensure that the medication remains at a consistent level in the body and provides the desired therapeutic effect

It is important to follow the healthcare provider's instructions carefully and take the medication as directed, as taking the medication too frequently or not frequently enough could reduce its effectiveness or cause unwanted side effects. If there is any confusion or uncertainty about how to take the medication, it is important to ask the Pharmacist for clarification.

IF YOU WANT TO GET THE BEST RESPONSE FROM OMEPRAZOLE AND ANTACIDS(Polygel, relcer gel,MMT etc),READ THIS.

👉If you have ulcer and you are making use of Omeprazole, take it before eating.

👉If you are using antacids (eg MMT, Polygel, Relcer gel etc) take it before eating especially if you also experience heartburn and/or indigestion.

👉If you are using Omeprazole and an antacid, take the antacid and wait for at least 3hrs before you can omeprazole. If you are to take the omeprazole first, space it for at least 2hrs before taking the antacid(eg MMT, Gaviscon, Polygel, Relcer gel etc)

👉The reason for not taking them together or at a time is because the two medicine when taken together reduces the other medicine from effectively working a phenomenon known as drug-drug interaction.

You see for Omeprazole to work, its first activated normally 30min-1hour after intake. This activation requires an acidic environment and taking something like antacids has potential to neutralizes the acidic environment prevents omeprazole from working effectively.

👉This doesn’t just apply to antacid and omeprazole. IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT MANY DRUGS(e.g Levothyroxine etc) also needs an acidic environment for them to be effectively be absorbed in the bloodstream.

If u take the antacid first, take the next drug in the next 3hrs at least (the ideal stuff is taking it in 4hrs time). If you take the drug first, take the antacid in 2hrs time.

MODURETIC

1. Moduretic is a brand name that contains two medications: Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Both medications are "water pills" (diuretics) and cause your body to get rid of extra salt and water.

This effect may increase the amount of urine you make when you first start the product.

Amiloride prevents the body from losing potassium, this helps to treat or prevent low blood potassium levels.

2. Moduretic is used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, or extra fluid in the body(Edema)

3. By Lowering High blood pressure; Moduretic helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

4. Always remember that this medication has been prescribed because your Healthcare provider has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects but here are the few things

👉Moduretic will not be an option for you if you are allergic to sulfa drugs for example antibiotics called sulfonamides, such as sulfamethoxazole(Septrin).

👉It is best to take this medication at least 6 hours before your bedtime. If you take this drug too close to bedtime, you may need to wake up to urinate which may affect your quality of sleep.

👉Moduretic may cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Serious symptoms of dehydration or electrolyte imbalance may include: very dry mouth, extreme thirst, muscle cramps, weakness, fast heartbeat, severe dizziness, confusion, fainting, seizures.

👉 Before starting Moduretic your electrolyte profile test should first be done. This may reduce the occurrence of side effects related to moduretic.
