The Team of mental health trainers from Ministry of Health HQ camped in Livingstone at Livingstone Lodge as we hosted 30 Primary Health care providers from the 15 districts of Southern Provinces. The Participants were undergoing Mental Health trainings for Emergency Preparedness and response. The Project is being supported by World Bank Multiphase Approach project aimed at creating a resilient health care system.

The participants were composed of Registered Nurses, Clinical Officers General, Clinical officers Psychiatry, Registered Mental health nurses, Psychosocial Counsellors and Midwives.

objective of the training is to capacity build the healthcare providers with knowledge and skills in mental screening and detection,case management, referral and follow up.

Also to provide mental health care and support to the victims, at risk individuals, families and population during and after emergencies. The team was taken through on how to strengthen mental integration in Primary Health Care and also practice Liason Psychiatry.

All being done to strengthen and improve mental health service delivery and prioritising it for holistic and comprehensive health care to the general public.

Great day spent at Ministry of Science and Technology (MOTS) during the Wellness day. Mental Health talk and knowledge exchange was conducted. Cancer Diseases Hospital and Chipata Level 1 hospital provided the onsite health services ranging from Cancer screening (Breast, Cervical and Prostate), HIV testing, Screening for other Non Communicable diseases such as High Blood Pressure, Obesity,(BP check, Weight check-up), Psychological and Counselling services were available.

Thank you Ministry of Science and Technology for Championing Workplace Mental and general workers wellbeing. Many thanks to the Management for this great initiative.

From 29-31st October, Zambia ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ was privileged to attend the Third Meeting of the Community of Practice (COP) in NCDs and Mental Health under the AFE HEPRR MPA Program. The meeting was held in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia.

The aim was to synergize the efforts towards a coordinated regional approach to integrating NCDs and Mental Health interventions, guided by shared lessons and experiences, an agreed MPHSS Operational plan and identified priori crossboarder actions.

Countries that coverged include; Kenya ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช, Sao Tome and Principe, ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Zambia, Ethiopia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น, Congo DRC ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฉ, Rwanda๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผ , Burundi ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฎ and Malawi ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ผ

Countries have agreed on the points of actions and work begins instantly.
