Help Us Build a Safe Space for the Future – The Youth-Friendly Space

At Tiny Tim & Friends, we believe young people deserve a space where they feel seen, heard,
and supported, especially when living with or affected by HIV.
Our Youth-Friendly Space is a safe and welcoming environment where adolescents and youth
receive:
 Confidential HIV services
 Mental health support
 Life skills guidance
 Peer-to-peer group sessions
 Sexual Reproductive health education
But to keep this vital space running and growing, we need your support.

We’re calling on donors, partners, and friends to join us in empowering the next generation
with the tools they need to thrive. Whether it through resources, mentorship, or funding, your
help can go a long way.

Together, we can break stigma, boost confidence, and build healthier futures.

World Breastfeeding Week (August) is a key time to raise awareness about maternal and child health.
Day 1: Dangers of Early Food Introduction / Start Gaps
Theme: One Breast, One Best Way For 6 Months
Did you know that Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months is the best way to nourish your baby? In fact, introducing other foods or liquids before 6 months can increase the risk of gut infections including HIV transmission.
Let Tiny Tim and friends help you debunk myths and cultural pressures that lead to early introduction.
Myth: HIV Positive mothers should not breastfeed.

Fact: Exclusive breastfeeding provides optimal protection and nutrition, boosting your baby's immune system and reducing the risk of illnesses. As long as you are adhering to arv medication and are virally suppressed you can safely breastfeed your baby. It is best to stick to breast milk alone for the first 6 month so you can give your baby the best possible start in life.
Let's spread the word and support all mothers in their breastfeeding journey! HAPPY BREASTFEEDING WEEK!!!

World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7) is a key time to raise awareness about maternal and child health.
Day 3: Antenatal Care & Breastfeeding Preparation
Theme: It Starts Before Birth
A healthy start begins before birth. Antenatal care plays a vital role in preparing mothers and babies for a successful breastfeeding journey. During pregnancy, expectant mothers receive essential guidance on breastfeeding techniques, its benefits, and how to overcome common challenges. For HIV-positive mothers, antenatal education also highlights the importance of treatment adherence and strategies to ensure safe breastfeeding. Early counseling and support not only reduce anxiety but also build confidence and empower mothers. By investing in comprehensive antenatal care and education, we lay the foundation for a lifetime of health, bonding, and well-being for both mothers and their babies.

World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7) is a key time to raise awareness about maternal and child health.
Day 5: Adherence to ART for Mothers

Theme: Healthy Mothers, Safe Feeding
Martha Chama's story is a testament to the power of ART adherence. Living with HIV, Martha prioritizes her health and her baby's well-being by taking her antiretroviral therapy (ART) daily. With a suppressed viral load, Martha was able to exclusively breastfeed her baby safely, significantly reducing the risk of HIV transmission. Thanks to her dedication, her child remains HIV-negative. Martha's journey shows that with ART adherence and proper care, mothers living with HIV can breastfeed safely, giving their babies the best possible start in life.
Thanks to our EMTCT initiatives, Martha's child remains HIV-negative, a testament to the effectiveness of these programs in promoting healthy outcomes for mothers and babies. By addressing stigma and promoting awareness, we can empower more HIV-positive mothers to breastfeed safely and confidently.

Mphasto Simbeleko Story

In 2024 Tiny Tim and Friends established a pediatric palliative care program for children with serious life-threatening conditions. This passion project came about when we recognized a lack of access to palliative care support services for children and their families.

Mphasto Simbeleko is one of the children currently enrolled on our palliative program for children. At 5 years old the boy suffers from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) (kidney cancer).
Through support from the TTF palliative project Mphasto’s family no longer have to carry the heavy burden alone. He can access free medication, counselling and transportation funds to and from the hospital. More than that, TTF has been providing nutritious meal packages to alleviate one of the biggest challenges that families such as Mphasto’s often struggle with: making sure that their children get the nutrition needed to stay strong during treatment.
With the organization’s help, Mphasto’s family can focus on what truly matters—being there for young Mphasto. To learn more about how you too can help children such as Mphasto, Check out our TTF website link: https://www.tinytimandfriends.org/palliative-care.html

Today was a rainy day, but that didn't dampen the warmth and joy we feel when interacting with our clients, especially the young ones, here at Tiny Tim and Friends.

One highlight was catching up with a young one by the name Getrude, who has made tremendous progress since her last visit. Seeing her thrive and in good health makes us happy.

Moments like these remind us why we love being part of this team. Every day, we witness the impact of our efforts, and it's incredibly fulfilling.

Despite the gloomy weather, today was a great day!

Happy Thursday

🌟 Let’s Talk About PrEP! Protect Yourself from HIV 🌟
Did you know that you can take control of your health and reduce your risk of HIV with PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)?
💊 What is PrEP?

PrEP is a daily pill that helps prevent HIV. It is highly effective when taken correctly and is recommended for people at high risk of exposure, including those with HIV-positive partners and anyone who wants extra protection.

📍 How is PrEP Used?
In Zambia, PrEP is available for free at government clinics, hospitals, and some private health facilities. If you think PrEP is right for you, visit a health center where a healthcare provider will assess your eligibility and guide you on how to take it properly.

✅ Benefits of PrEP
✔️ Reduces HIV risk by over 90% when taken consistently
✔️ Empowers individuals to take charge of their sexual health
✔️ Safe and effective, with minimal side effects for most people
✔️ Confidential and accessible at various health facilities across Zambia.

PrEP is a game-changer in the fight against HIV! If you or someone you know might benefit from it, visit your nearest clinic and ask about getting started. 💙
