As the school term draws to a close, our Safeguarding Team has taken a proactive step to ensure that every child remains safe, informed, and empowered—both within the school environment and beyond.

We are currently conducting classroom-to-classroom sessions, engaging our learners with special needs in age-appropriate and accessible discussions on safeguarding and child protection. These sessions are not just informative—they are interactive, supportive, and tailored to meet each child’s unique understanding and communication needs.

Our goal is clear:
✨ To help children recognize what safety means in their daily lives
✨ To equip them with practical ways to protect themselves at home and at school
✨ To ensure they can confidently identify trusted adults and know exactly who to report concerns to
✨ To empower them with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities

Safeguarding is not a one-time conversation—it is an ongoing commitment. By reinforcing these concepts regularly, we are nurturing confident, aware, and resilient learners who can advocate for their own safety.

Together, as a school community, we remain dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and protective environment where every child feels seen, heard, and supported.

BSNP conducted a joint training at Mano Basic School in Mufulira for parents and guardians of children with disabilities; with focus on Community Based Incusive Development (CBID) and Deaf blindness. As you maybe aware, parents and guardians play a critical role in ensuring inclusion, advocacy and support. The purpose of the training was to equip parents and guardians with practical knowledge on CBID principles, to build awareness and understanding of deaf blindness and it's impact on child development, as well as strengthen family and community capacity to promote inclusion, safeguarding and rights. This training was also meant to foster peer support networks among parents and guardians especially that some of the parents were coming from far off places. At the end of the training, participants were able to define CBID and explain its relevance to disabilty inclusion. They were also able to identify challenges faced by children with disabilities especially those with deaf blindness as you will see from the captions below. The parents were again able to demonstrate practical communication and interaction techniques for children with deaf blindness. The training covered a wide range of participants from the church social welfare, community workers, health and teachers.

Bauleni Special Needs School continues to make strides in supporting our learners with diverse needs. The Head Teacher, Mr. Tembo, proudly distributed mobility assistive aids (wheelchairs) to children with special needs who have been diligently undergoing physiotherapy sessions.

These life-changing aids will greatly enhance their mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Honourable Doreen Sefuku Mwamba, Minister of Community Development and Social Services, for this generous donation. Your support has truly put smiles on the faces of both the mothers and their children.

This important initiative is aimed at promoting the health and well-being of our learners, ensuring they remain active, focused, and ready to learn. By administering deworming tablets, we are taking a vital step in preventing infections that can affect growth, nutrition, and overall development.
